Would you trade a lifetime of having under a 600 credit score for 100k cash?

Had this discussion with a guy today and was wondering what others take on this would be.

Basically would you get rid of a top notch credit score and the ability to buy a lot of high priced items on credit like homes, vehicles and other type loans for 100k cash.

I personally think credit a good credit score is just too important to toss away. I think it would be too big of a pain in the ass trying to get things done without good credit.

Yeah, with a bad credit score you can file for bancruptcy and have a new credit score in 6-7 years

It depends on where you are in life and what you own. If you're going to be looking to borrow a lot in the near future (i.e. buy a house), then NO, but if you already have a decent net worth and a home with a fixed rate, then maybe yeah.

yes, I would take it....cars aren't a big deal, the only hurdle would be getting a mortgage....i'll take my chances with $100,000 in my pocket today.

i would consider it.

what stops a real old guy with no heirs and no estate from hitting a bunch of credit cards for cash advances and then never pay the monthly bill and not worry about it until he dies .

they have no way of collecting.

i will only have 1 heir and she wont need a penny from me as she will probably rule the world one day. i can see myself doing it just to spite the banks for sending me all that junk mail ..

Take the 100 grand and blow it all in Vegas. Then you'd be too depressed to worry about your shitty credit score.

I bet if you had a good credit score you woudn't need 100K.

Having had neither , at least in my case i believe at say 25 yrs old i had had a choice of either 1 the 100K would have changed my life more than the credit score.
Had i been college educated and from a family with a little more money i can see how that would not have been the case though..

100k easy if you know what to do with it you will never need credit. Plus with a bank account with 100k in it you be surprised how much credit you can get. Even with a bad credit score. Maybe not as much as 3-4 years ago but still a good amount. Mortage would be hard but then again with the housing market the way it is you could always pick up a cheap foreclosed house.
