Ok a friend of a friend is a dentist. Was offered to work with HIV patients only for $35k a month. Doesn't know what to do. It got me thinking if I would take something like that.

Why would you not take it. You simply double glove and if you ever stick yourself, you take those drugs for a month. The drugs suck, but the chance of transfer is about .3% if you take them.
How much does he make otherwise? THat would seem to be a big factor. If it's 35K instead of 30K, then screw it. But if it's 35K instead of 15K, then yeah.
