I know you would! I join the National Guard in 66 & saw my combat action during the Newark riots in 67.

Taking the Topic Hypothetical seriously for just long enough to be serious....

Were a real military draft to be instated that would be widespread enough to include a 49 year old like me, it's reasonable to presume we would be under attack by the Chinese or some other military power with several million troops.

In such a case, I would not need to be drafted as I'm sure I would be involved in some kind of ground level community defense.

a couple years ago i was making plans to get out of the army. buddy of mine asked if i'd feel a duty to come back in if we got invaded by china or some other military. i thought about it and said, "no, but i'd damn sure be an insurgent."

I think the era of ground wars between countries oceans apart is over. Heck, the era of war between countries may be over. Now it's more about countries fighting chaos from within, and radical groups both inside and out, depending on where you live.
