My fiance ordered something off amazon. Next day we get a tracking # and its listed as shipped. A day or 2 goes by and I get phone call from an unknown # that I miss. No voicemail left, so I dont call back. Next morning I wake up to a phone call from same # and answer. Its them letting me know the item is out of stock in that color and i can switch to two other options. I select one of the options an she tells me it will go out that day. another day or two goes by and this morning I receive an email saying my order has been cancelled because they never heard back from me. I called them up, spoke to a nice girl told her what happened and their mistakes. She got the ordered uncancelled. I received an email telling me it will say 1-2 days to process and 3-5 to receive.

am I wrong to think this item should be discounted or even free for their numerous errors?

My wife's company sells on Amazon and there are so many stories it would spin your head around.

Vendors / sellers have 2 days to ship out or they could lose their selling account.

Some sellers play games, because you MUST have the items you list on Amazon, IN STOCK !
if the items is on it's way to the seller and they receive an order in the mean time, they need to cancel the order. Or get in Huge trouble.

So I would ask them nicely if you can receive a discount, even a small one for your trouble and not receiving your item on-time.

If that doesn't work... PM me and I will tell you the "Key" to receive it at a discount or even Free !

Yes, absolutely, Partial refund. Two Things:

1.) Something went wrong. No one wants things going wrong, not the Retailer, not you. Seeking refund lets it be known to a Retailer that your shopping experience with them was sub-par, did not meet with your expectations which is stuff that they need to know as this might help them identify problems within their infrastructure. Identifying such problems is very +EV to them so that their operation runs as the most finely oiled machine possible and they can, as result, achieve the maximum success possible for them.

2.) A refund has occurred to you as a viable consideration in this instance. This means that your experience with this retailer was bad enough to make you feel the consideration of a refund was warranted. You should not have to go through what you had to go through to get an order fulfilled from this retailer.

It is in the best interests of both parties involved that you seek a partial refund.

It is my considered opinion that you deserve a partial refund.

i'm guessing he doesn't want to make that info public, hurting sellers like his wife's company

He would just tell you to commit mail fraud. Even with tracking, you can say you didn't receive the item and Amazon/Ebay will refund you the money.

if they dont think they have any issues to correct, ill just leave feedback i think they earned and not order from them again assuming the item ordered is correct and works right

Things like this are becoming normal business practices now all across commerce in the US. You are seeing business stumble and fumble around with orders and awful customer service. They are doing all the can to over promise and over sell just to under deliver all the while doing it at the lowest margins, often margins lower than they even need to sustain profits.

This is where I differ from many. Why give them a chance? You gave them chances to fix it, report them to amazon and go for the jugular. You should not have to threaten things to get civil customer service.

sadly crap like this is why i quit selling stuff on ebay, so many freaking liars and cheats out there claiming stuff was never received... one thing they pulled was leaving a signed note on the door saying it was ok to leave package. so then even if i had it certified/registered, it would show up as delivered but ebay/****** would STILL refund the money because there was no signature to prove it was delivered

Well it would matter to my wife's business as she dots every " i " and cross every ' t '
Her items are shipped within 24 hours ( weekends are not included ) * as per Amazon.
They are Tough at Amazon... and unlike Ebay, Amazon does Test Buys and if anything is Not what you say it is, You're GONE !

True about changing the shipping address, Amazon won't allow you to do it. But 110% wrong to say too bad.
If you had someone at that other address, they could still keep it.

What they can do next time... if you believe you won't be at the first address after it was Ordered. They can cancel the order, you get your money back
and then you can Re-Order with the new address
