Not any different being a "gambler" than someone trading stocks, working for an airline that goes bust or a person owning a waterfront restaurant that gets destroyed by a storm. Disaster and bankruptcies can strike any ill prepared profession. Most serious "gamblers" have saved a rainy day fund.

However, if she's 19 and living at home, her tail will be in the house at a reasonable hour and not laying out with new beau until 3am watching Hawaii/San Jose State.

What about me? Professional Poker Player who graduated with a business degree from a top business school(IU). I don't plan to do this the rest of my life as I plan to start my own business or I can always fall back on my parents business. Approve?

I wouldn't want to be a hypocrite so would have to open-minded.

I would need proof that the person has made money (equivalent to a good salary) for the past 5 years and that his gambling work doesn't occupy more hours than would say a full-time job.

If the guy could provide the above evidence including bank statements, neteller withdrawls etc and a detailed explanation into his methods that would pass my "sustainability" tests and provide proof that he wasn't into any other vices which tends to be the case with most gamblers then sure I'd give him a chance.

Or she could just say "screw you, I'm an adult and I make my own decisions" and run off with him. Either way.

If it were my daughter (which I don't have - only have 1 year old son), she'd ask for that criteria BEFORE I did!
