Ok, so I'm a web developer that usually builds project control systems for oil companies but I gained the understanding of scraping data and building databases. For my hobby I love sports and betting on sports. One sport I do not know very well is baseball. But I want to do something to help out my chances making money in baseball. I have developed some scripts that can pull data off of websites and can develop queries that can give us a lot of customized data. The one thing I haven't done is tap in to spreads and o/u data. So it would be strictly player data and team data.

But the benefit of this would be complete customization. If you have any kind of combination of data you want or comparison you want, we can make it with this data. I can get 10 years of data.

The fields I have access to are...

date
home_score by inning
away_score by inning
runs
hits
errors
individual hitters
- runs
- hits
- ab
- rbis
- walks
- home run
- strike out
- batting average
individual pitchers
- innings pitched
- hits
- runs
- earned runs
- strikes
- walks
- home runs
- pitch count
- era

weather
wind
umpires
time of game

So if you understand databases, you know we can pull absolutely any kind of combination of stats out of this data. Now I do not know if this would be useful, but if there is enough interest I would gladly do it.

Let me know if you can find this information useful.

Oh that's badass. You should get that beast online.

But what I was describing is just the raw data. From that you can create almost any statistic you want. But looks like you already have that.

Good work!

I think we may be able to help each other. I've put together some things to help with baseball handicapping and have just recently put them online. My problem is updating the data every day. Here's a few things to check out to show you how I use the data.

pitch log (gives a projected won/loss record for the pitcher and an overall rating I've created)

http://edbemiss.com/index.php?option=com_pitchlog

runs per inning (shows hot and cold batting based on innings runs were scored in versus total innings played)

http://edbemiss.com/index.php?option=com_mlbrpi

I also have a line and total predictor set up for each day (click the date and hit go)

http://www.edbemiss.com/index.php?option=com_predcal

I can use the pitching data you've listed above and the runs per inning by date. I use excel to upload into my database if I can get the data in that format that would probably save me a ton of time. PM if you'd like to talk more about it. thanks

Oh sweet. Do you use Mysql?

I can scrape data off of any site that has info anyone wants. Not really legal but as long as we kept it to a minimum it would be fine. I built a script like 2 years ago just for fun that scraped all the data from ESPN, tapped in to one of those free RSS Spread feeds and was actually able to get live spreads and update stats in the db on the fly. But I was a novice two years ago, these days what we can do is limitless.

I'll send you a PM to talk logistics.

Yes Mysql. Sounds good. I get my runs per inning data from espn and the daily pitcher stats for the 2012 log as well so that may work out great.
