They CRUSHED almost everyone of theses teams. Michigan had 1 win under 10 points and Florida had 4. You can cut this up any way you want and I am not saying voting Florida is wrong as most will tell you how this ended with a team JUMPING another team that had a bye because there season was over, makes little sense. I am not sure how they jumped them off of that win from voters who chose to go that route. That win was not anything impressive in a DOWN SEC.

You are putting way too much emphasis on the final scores. Some of those games were closer than the score indicates. Does this logic not count because it doesn't support the case being presented?

and that my friends sums up why this is the most flawed thing in all of major sports. What a mess. No way Florida goes over Michigan if USC wins over Ucla. Proving my point sice the beginning Florida got votes because people didn't want to see a rematch when the only question at hand is too vote who the 2 best teams are. If you like Florida that is fine but don't vote for them based on something like the above example.
This exact point was brought up on the Rome Show as well as the Dan Patrick show today. Clearly the answer is " No Way" However I believe you are also overlooking 2 other important reasons why the people who vote in the Polls decided they wanted Florida ahead of Michigan
1. First reason you already mentioned.... They didn't want a rematch !
2. Michigan didn't even win their own Conference Title.... That already happened recently when Oklahoma went and of course they got destroyed. Also on this note..... Is the Big 10 really that strong this year ?
3. The SEC just recently got screwed when undefeated Auburn was passed over and didn't get a chance despite going 13-0 !
4. I will add this as an extra.... Florida had a tougher schedule IMHO
I remember at the begining of the year looking at their schedule and thinking.... Florida is damn good but they will never make it to the title game so why buy any futures on them ! Thank God I woke up recently and bought some !! I still think this BCS is stupid as add 3 games after the bowls are played and We have a championship that means something. Michigan losing by 3 on the road to Ohio State which is basicly a tie and they are out ? Ridiculous !

No. All the squares just wanted someone other than Michigan. They were not even close with USC and they'll be wrong again with Florida.

Who knows if UF can beat Michigan? That's why they play the games - but we all know Michigan got a chance and did not.

All the Michigan nuthuggers are going look mighty dumb if the lose their bowl game.

what happens if boise st blows the doors (i mean blows the doors) off a very hot OU team...and florida beats ohiost in a close game...then there would be a sole undefeated team....

another thing to ponder would be if there was a playoff system and say it was top4 teams (i think 4 is best bc it can be wrapped up in 2weeks, 8teams would take 3weeks and it would start getting outta control)...anyways...

who would be the 4 teams in the playoff?
ohiost/fla/mich and ? wisky? louis? tough not to put undefeated boise in there? 2 loss lsu?

I stole this from someone but it would be great.

11 Notre Dame
at 6 Louisville

10 Oklahoma
at 7 Wisconsin

15 Va Tech
at 2 Florida

I don't think there is a bad matchup in the bunch and each of these teams has incentive to play. The only teams that have anything to play for this year are OSU and Florida. Who the hell cares who wins the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, or Rose Bowl????

2nd round played on December 23 at regional bowl sites (close to highest original seed)

#1 Ohio St (Detroit - Motor city Bowl)
#2 Florida (orlando - Champs Sports Bowl)
#3 Michigan (Toronto - International Bowl)
#4 LSU (New Orleans - New Orleans Bowl)

My matchups
Motor City Bowl - Detroit
Ohio State vs Auburn

Champs Sports Bowl - Orlando
Florida vs Oklahoma

International Bowl - Toronto
Michigan vs Louisville

New Orleans Bowl - New Orleans
LSU vs USC

Semi-finals would be played January 1st on rotating schedule for the BCS bowls (Sugar, Fiesta, Rose, Orange)

Ohio state vs Lsu
Florida vs Michigan

and the winners of those 2 would meet in the championship on or around Jan 10.

The teams that don't make the tourney still can go to a bowl game for their "reward" and I think the teams that lose in the 1st round would be eligible for the New Years day bowls. That way everyone still gets to go to a bowl game.

they had there chance is ABSOLUTELY weak. This is not how the system is setup but you just summed up people's thoughts and the reason why people voted for Florida. Vote for the 2 best teams not some matchup you want to see. The sad thing is thats Florida's supporters #1 reason, Michgan had their chance. If this is the case than UNDEFEATED Boise St NEVER had their chance, did they? When do they get their chance. You my as well tell half the NCAA division teams in America before the year you have ZERO chance to win the national championsip. No matter what happens.

The whole system is a crock and a joke. If Michigan would have lost to OSU the week after crushing ND they would have worked themselves up to a solid #2 and the media would be begging for a rematch. If Florida wins and I hope they do and Boise St wins than tell me how a team with zero losses who won a BCS game and played and won every game on their schedule and is the last man standing undefeated, doing all they were asked to do, doesn't deserve the title. Talk about a real crock, but let me guess Florida deserves it for LOSING to Auburn.

You think the outcry is bad now, well what happens if OSU whips Florida and Michigan does the same to USC. Talk about a team that has to prove they actually belong. Florida will be fighting the critics alot more than UM because there is a real good chance they could lose by double digits. Michigan already did that covering the spread on the road.

That would be the ultimate clusterfuck-and maybe just what we need to finally get a playoff.

Why 4 ? We have 4 major Bowls that have been around forever Orange, Sugar, Cotton and Rose ! That makes it the 8 top teams. Play the bowls like We did for 50 years on New Years Day Then the 4 winner play 2 more games the following week and those winners play for Championship ! Why make it complicated ? Just 3 more games ...... Oh yes and Millions and Millions of $$$$$$$ !

To answer the original question posed, ofcourse they wouldn't have passed the. However, the USC loss, got the voters to analyze the situation and the fact of the matter is, what Florida did to get through their schedule with one loss is much more deserving of a title shot than what Michigan did.

Iceman you keep talking about the way the system is setup. And if I remember correctly, Michigan would be the only team ever to lose a game and NOT fall more than 2 places in the polls. They should have dropped in the human polls a lot further than what they did, just like every other team drops.

The ONLY reason Michigan was left up high where they were after their loss to Ohio State was because people wanted them in the hunt for a rematch. Ironically, that is what bit them in the ass. If Michigan had lost that game to Ohio State in week 5, they would have dropped like a rock in the human polls.

Florida was criticized for playing Western Carolina while Michigan was playing a tougher game, and Florida lost their spot to them because of it. Why did Florida ever slide in the 1st place? They never LOST.

Well, Michigan was not playing and Florida was playing tougher games, and Michigan lost their spot right back, and justice was served.

This should never even have been a debate.

You bring up some stat about margin of victory. And you are debating the use of logic and that is the logic you use? Did it ever occur that the reason Michigans Margin of Victory is greater than Florida was because they played 6 teams with a record of less than .500, while Florida played only 2 teams with a losing record?

Every piece of statistical evidence outside of Margin of victory points to Florida.

Im also a big believer that if you DONT win your conference, you should NOT play for the title. If Michigan wanted to go to the title game, all they had to do was beat Ohio State. They knew the stakes before the game, if they lost they were out. This should be no surprise, and the right thing was done.

The biggest shock was that Michigan was #2 after losing to OSU but nobody made an issue at the time because the marginal was so miniscual over USC everyone assumed USC would beat UCLA and move into second the following week.

Could you imagine if USC was already finished and and Florida was already finished and Michigan lost to OSU and was ranked second - THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION.
