What a season. It was filled w/many ups & downs, but it finally comes to an end.
I've been so busy that I again missed some wks posting for PO's.
DEN (+5) this yr has many similarities w/the Tebow led team in '11, w/one major exception; Peyton Manning. Peyton did his very best to make his team lose gms early in the season, but the "D" & ST's just would not let it happen. Very similar to that '11 team. Osweiler enters @ QB & does an admirable job w/a key win vs NE that helped get DEN hm field in POs. As if scripted from a cheesy 80's sports movie, Peyton starts the 2nd half vs SD in the final gm of season & helps rally the team to the #1 seed in AFC. He didn't do much passing in that gm, however he did quite a bit of throwing vs PIT & NE. His arm looked much stronger & amazingly threw no INTs. He understands his role now as a gm manager, but he is far from Alex Smith. He can still complete 6-8 straight passes w/a few shots deep just to keep the secondary honest. This is not Peyton's team rt now. They have a dedicated run gm & the best "D" in football. That is also a major difference from the '14 record setting team that relied solely on Peyton's arm, then got crushed by SEA because there was no run gm to back up on. I sports-hate Scam Newton because he celebrates way too much. He's always been like this, even when CAR was a bad, losing team. But, his size & running ability make him a valuable piece in Shula's "O". I feel Scam is getting a little too much credit. Stewart & the oline are performing above avg, & their "D" is tremendous. It's not better than DEN's, because they can make a lot of mistakes which lead to pts. They've been lucky to survive a few gms & just pounced on the other team's mistakes. SEA gave CAR 2 INT's & a 59 yd running play to help go down by 31 (which Scam accounted for very little of). Greg Olsen is another huge factor in CAR's success. It's no secret that CAR's WR's are not good, so Olsen, Stewart & Scam's legs have played huge roles in their "O" thus far. DEN has the ability on "D" to take away those 3 things. Then when the WR's have to step it up, they'll need to get by Harris, Ward, Roby & Talib. I believe Scam will turn it over more than Peyton & that will be the difference here. I do worry about DEN's oline which is pedestrian. I'm banking on DEN running the ball a lot & Peyton making controlled passes. But if DEN is down by a score or less late in the gm, Peyton can move the team to take this.
