KC showed up & delivered against a hobbled Rivers in a must win for SD. Chase Daniel made the throws he needed to while Charles & Davis provided the focus to help him succeed. Both the NYG & ATL “D”s were atrocious in coverage putting a damper on an otherwise good day for me. Dalton was below avg on primetime per the norm, & DAL cruised into PO’s w/a drubbing @ WAS. Onto WC weekend.

2014 Season: POW 10-7, Teasers 8-9, Overall 46-39-1

DAL (-6 1/2 @ -115) absolutely cruised into the PO’s avg over 40 ppg in their last 4 gms to end the yr. Murray has been the story this yr running away w/rushing title & Emmitt Smith’s team record. As always though, it is the oline that is the reason for success. Idiot owner Jerry Jones rued not taking Manziel over Zack Martin in this yr’s draft, but fortunately for him common sense ruled resulting in a rookie Pro Bowler @ RG. Most know about LT Tyron Smith who is arguably the best tackle in the whole NFL, but C Travis Frederick was also selected to PB after having a great yr. All of a sudden, Romo is in the MVP talks w/the best comp % & QB rating in NFL, & Garrett is in consideration for COY. What a difference a yr makes. Oline is definitely a large reason for DAL’s turnaround, but bringing in Rod Marinelli to replace the fossil Monte Kiffen has paid immediate dividends. W/a lot of injuries, plus the loss of Ware to DEN, many expected DAL’s “D” to be even worse than it was last yr (dead last in yds allowed). Marinelli has brought accountability & obviously tackling fundamentals to make a no-name DAL “D” 19[SUP]th[/SUP] in the league, w/a top 10 run “D” to boot. This spells trouble for DET who needs balance in order to free up their receivers. Most know Stafford’s 0-16 SU record on the rd vs winning teams, but DET this yr has been 2-6 ATS on the rd by more than 3 ppg against the number. Those 2 wins were @ NYJ & MIN. Take out those 2 cupcakes, & DET was negative 8 ppg ATS. Stafford’s comp % goes down on the rd, but he’s much more functional indoors where Tate & Bush can use their speed & cuts more effectively. But, DET has issues on the oline where Raiola comes back from suspension, which moves rookie C Swanson next to rookie RT Lucas, if RG Warford is unavailable (knee injury). DAL doesn’t get a lot of pressure on QBs, so this is critical. GB exposed the middle of DET’s secondary, so I see Bryant, Witten & Beasley having great success there off play-action. W/suspension of Suh, Murray & Randle should be running like crazy which makes play-action all the more deadly. DET was fortunate w/Rodgers getting hurt, Lacy’s fumble, & a tap on Stafford’s helmet that led to their 1[SUP]st[/SUP] TD. That gm was a lot closer than it should’ve been. In last yr’s tilt between these 2, DAL was w/out Murray, their “D” was a sieve, it was @ DET, Megatron went ballistic w/329 yds, & DET needed a QB sneak TD w/12 sec remaining to win by 1 pt. And that was w/Suh & Fairley. This shouldn’t be close.

DET 17
DAL 30
5 Units

Wanted to get this one out early, as the line should go up w/Suh’s suspension. Will have more later in the wk.

Well, well, well, as I post this, Suh's suspension has been lifted because he won an appeal. He'll be fined $70,000.

Oh NFL, this guy has been your poster child for dirty play & you had the perfect chance to finally make him regret his actions, & you blew it. Just throw this in w/the mishandling of Rice & AP too. What's more funny is Raiola is quoted defending Suh & how he's a changed man. Raiola, who stomped on a down player's ankle the wk before. Sigh.

Off my soap box now, GB & Lacy were able to run on Suh anyway, so this shouldn't change things much. We'll see if the rookie Martin can take him one on one or if he'll need help. Just don't be on the ground near Suh after the play is over.

Good luck this weekend Wormy- will be on the other side of the DAL game as I just think Stafford finds a way to get it close at the end of the game.

I'm w/ya Bobby on Suh! Not sure why that hasn't happened yet. Suh defenders say that a lot of players do that dirty stuff but he gets all the attention. I've watched a lot of live gms & I haven't seen people step on or twist ankles (esp to QBs) like he's done. Hopefully karma shows up here because it's a long time coming.
well written Wormy.....I like the play also....BOL
Thanks OG, appreciate the kind words! BOL to you as well.

I like the "U", like University of Miami! Thanks United, I see you're on the opposite side but hopefully my reasoning is sound. Think I'll be on CAR w/you at least! Hope we both start '15 w/a bang!

Indy, always a pleasure when you stop by my threads. Have a great New Year w/your family & loved ones as well!

Stafford has done the miracle drives multiple times this yr, including against my beloved Dolphins. I'm banking on DAL pulling away & keeping lead w/their great oline & run gm. Hopefully this gm will not come down to the QB's although Stafford just hasn't impressed me this yr & I've watched a lot of DET gms. BOL to the both of us Jax, & have a happy new year!

Honorable Mentions:

1 Unit CAR -6 1/2: Revenge gm for CAR as they lost @ ARI in ’13, 22-6. Key to this gm however is Lindley’s 1[SUP]st[/SUP] PO gm & it’s on the rd. CAR DB Josh Norman has done a great job on Mike Evans, Josh Gordon & Julio Jones in consecutive wks, which doesn’t bode well for the ageless wonder Fitzgerald. If ARI had a great run gm they’d have a chance, but they’ll be relying on Taylor & Williams who have combined for 3.7 ypc in ARI’s last 3 gms. ARI’s “D” has struggled vs 2 mobile QB’s in Wilson & Kaeperstink to end the yr. And really it’s not because they don’t know how to play these option QB’s, rather their “D” has been worn out due to short fields on TO’s & lots of 3 & outs. I expect the same here w/CAR likely running away w/this one.

2 Unit Wormy Teaser:

PIT +10
CAR + 6 1/2
ARI/CAR Under 51
DAL +6 1/2

FWIW, I feel PIT will take their div rematch, but loss of Bell is big. I like rookie Harris’ running, but Bell’s blitz pickup & catching in the flat will be sorely missed against a very good BAL “D”. Big Ben is no stranger to PO football & Antonio Brown will have a nice gm if Ngata, Dumervil & Suggs can’t get pressure.

IND should also take their matchup, but the hook could be the difference. I expect Dalton to underwhelm, but Hill & Gio could have big gms w/how IND’s run “D” has looked. This one looks like it could come down to the final minutes.

I really like the ARI/CAR Under as ARI may not score! But the line has dropped too much for my liking. CIN/IND Under also looks good as CIN’s gms on the rd have gone under their last 6, as well as IND’s last 4 gms overall.

I was so thrilled when Gradkowski came in & PIT almost scored the TD to keep my teaser alive but alas, as w/a lot of my teasers this yr, it was not to be. Good ol Ben, a sure fire HOF'er according to Collinsworth, came back in just in time to throw another INT. What do you expect from Haley & Tomlin. It makes total sense that w/out Bell they'd just throw it a bunch where BAL's strength is in pass rush.

All I can do now is cheer DAL on big tomorrow to stem the loss.
