Every yr I have a hard time posting during POs. So here’s my end of yr blurb & my undocumented WC rd last wk.
My NFL regular season ended w/a whimper as my POW & KC hit w/ease, but the rest of my plays including my reliable teaser went down in flames. Matt Moore showed signs of things to come vs NE as he threw 2 INTs & engineered a lot of 3 & outs. ATL looked like an easy cover, but along came the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Q where NOR backdoored me scoring 19. The worst of the day had to be WAS blowing my teaser by trying their version of the Music City Miracle on their own 15 yd line, only to have NYG “D” return a backward pass into a TD. Ouch.
WC rd saw my POW hit w/HOU beating the short handed Raiders & Osweiler doing enough to not lose that one. I also managed to win 1 unit on GB who is the hottest team in the NFL & seem primed to go all the way.
Regular Season: POW 10-5-2, Teasers 11-6, Overall 43-28-3 (44-29-3 undocumented), GOY 0-1.
POs: 0-0 (POW 1-0, Overall 2-0 undocumented)
GB (+5) is the hottest team rt now. 7 gm win streak aside, Rodgers is simply picking apart secondaries. Jordy Nelson played a big role there, but even when he went down, Rodgers didn’t blink an eye. He took advantage of backup corner Trevin Wade (in for Rodgers-Cromartie) w/Adams & Cobb getting big gains in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half. Ripkowski, Montgomery & now Michael are providing tough yds when they need it, which only makes GB’s “O” more dangerous. I love DC Rod Marinelli & think he’s the best “D” coach in the league rt now. It helps to have one of the smartest LBs also in Sean Lee. But there’s no superstar on that side of the ball yet they play sound football w/good tackling & rarely make mistakes. That said, it’s perfect for Rodgers & the GB “O”. There’s a lot of speed w/GB’s WRs, they have 2 TEs that cause matchup problems, & their RBs can catch too. And if DAL gets pressure on Rodgers, if he’s able to escape the pocket then that’ll just create more nightmares for the secondary. I don’t need to speak much about DAL’s “O” so I’ll just say GB’s veteran “D” is good enough to make a few key stops for their “O” to win this one. Something can be said about momentum going into POs. I think that’s why Belicheat never rests starters in final gms of season even when there’s nothing to play for. He knows w/2 wks off, your starters need to maintain the competitive edge. This may come to roost here w/DAL playing substitution gms in Wk 17, esp w/a young team. Here’s a quirky fact for you, the winner of the Rodgers/Eli PO gm has gone on to win the SB. Can that streak continue this yr? I’m betting yes.
