Sigh, yet another 4th Q save for my POW. TEN needed a late TD throw from Collins to win the gm, and cover. My DOW was a complete washout, as DET proved that their season is over. And my Monday pick went down in glorious flames because NO (except for their run "D" and Brees) really didn't want to win. Man do they miss Colston. And man, is MIN unimpressive. Any decent team would've blown NO out of the water with the gifts they gave away.

POW now stands at a mediocre 3-2, Monday Nighters 1-1, and DOW 0-1.

Well, one of my choices for my Dog of the Week last wk was MIA. This wk, I'm going out on a limb and making them my POW. I thought for certain they'd be giving pts to HOU, but they opened up a 3 pt dog. I've watched all of MIA's gms thus far, and they're really improving every wk. Beating both NE and SD back to back is incredible. And if I hadn't watched both gms, I would think the same as the public, that they're fluky wins. But in both gms, there weren't any Special Teams TD's, "D" TD's, or much TO's for NE & SD. MIA only had 4 sacks on NE, and 2 on SD. MIA's "D" is playing blue collar "D", mainly stuffing the run, and getting adequate pressure on the QB. Because MIA's biggest weakness is their secondary. Which is why they couldn't keep up with ARI. But, with just Andre to focus in on, and the pressure they'll get on Schaub (who was out last wk), I think they'll contain HOU's "O". Slaton shouldn't have much success, as MIA contained both Sproles & LT, along with Edge/Hightower and NE's RB committee. HOU has been horrid in the 2nd half, so my POW could be rescued in the 4th again! But I think MIA's surging "D" combined with their ultra disciplined "O" will get an early lead, and keep it. The Wildcat "O" has been awesome to watch, but what I really noticed was MIA's oline/TE/WR's opening nice holes for Ricky and Brown. Their blocking is top notch, and HOU will be hard pressed to stop it. This then sets up Pennington's play-action, which is his forte. His passing has been sleeping pill boring, but Exlax effective. It's so frustrating to see his passes go low to WR's, causing them to slow down to catch them, or going out of bounds, but those passes will NEVER be picked off. In fact his lone INT on the season was a tipped pass in their first gm vs NYJ. I know there's no QB controversy in HOU, but having rumblings of Sage starting for struggling Schaub, then Sage playing in Wk 5, now Schaub coming back, that's a little disruptive to an "O". I see MIA winning a tight one.

MIA 23
HOU 17

My DOW is obviously MIA, so I'll be skipping that this wk.

My honorable mention plays are:

DAL -5
PHI -5
CIN/NYJ Over 44 1/2
SD -5

5 is the lucky #! DAL is better on the road, and while ARI's "O" may keep this one close, the NFC East is FAR better than the West. Even w/out Westbrook, PHI's pass rush will have JT on the run all gm. McNabb breaks out here after "team meeting". This Total really boggles me, but I'm going with my gut and expecting a huge score for CIN/NYJ. Favre & co coming off a bye, and CIN looking to improve their passing "O" on a still improving NYJ "D", makes this a 60 pt type gm, IMO. And the late gm is a primetime stage @ home, where SD plays it's best. This gm reminds me of their gm with IND last yr, when Peyton threw 6 INT's. And Cassel is no Peyton.

BOL gentlemen, and please leave your comments!

Thanks a lot Jet! BOL to you as well, most esp on Tulsa tomorrow!!!

Cruncher thinks it'll go Under, but unless Palmer gets hurt during the gm (or Favre for that matter), I see both teams scoring in the 20's, with the winner possibly getting to 30.

C. Palmer was announced as doubtful yesterday and that looks to be his status still today. Have you heard something different?

I like SD and PHI as 5 point favorites tomorrow. The market has been fairly neutral on those games so far, which isn't especially encouraging, but I think Philly has a good chance of beating SF by 2 touchdowns tomorrow leaving everyone scratching their heads and wondering why they didn't see it coming, lol. BOL tomorrow!

QB Carson Palmer will not play against the Jets on Sunday because of his sore right elbow, coach Marvin Lewis said Friday. Ryan Fitzpatrick would get the start in Palmer's place, and Lewis said Palmer might be able to serve as No. 2. "We want to get the thing calmed down so it doesn't give him any irritation or problems at all," Lewis said.

Yup Crunch, Palmer's not starting. Fitzpatrick is ok, although his gm vs CLE says otherwise. 3 sacks, 3 picks, and a FL. However, if he continues these TO's vs NYJ & Favre, this could help the Over as well. Giving Favre extra chances to score is always good. Thanks Crunch, I think SF's oline will not be able to contain JJohnson's "D", and Martz's "O" needs time for the passer to work.

Fuzzy, thanks, I hope we both bank tomorrow!

Lines are dropping for PHI and DAL. Good news, I hope SD's drops as well. I believe the CIN Total is dropping too. Unfortunately, juice is high on MIA, which sucks because earlier in the wk, they were even juice. I guess I can wait for tomorrow morning to put in plays.

I didn't say anywhere that I thought the CIN Total wouldn't drop. Just letting people know of line movement, in case they decide to put plays in tonight. Actually, thanks to Cruncher, I knew the line was going down, and obviously, with the Palmer news this will only make it drop further tomorrow morning. Really glad the PHI & DAL lines are dropping. Also, I'd have to consider Chambers not playing for SD, and Gates hobbled, for the sunday nighter. If my other plays don't hit, I may end up not playing SD.

Thanks for the well wishes Zip, BOL to you as well!

I'm going to add CHI -3 and GB +1 to my honorable mention.

CHI's pass rush is solid, and should get to Ryan. But more importantly CHI's "D" will contain Turner, which this season has been ATL's downfall. Orton is through the roof, and Hester in a dome on fake grass are more than enough to score on ATL's 23rd ranked "D". ATL is also giving up 125 rypg (20th), meaning Orton won't have to do it all with Forte doing ok (76 rypg).

Hasselbeck shouldn't be playing, meaning Charlie Frye should start. I used to like Frye when he was at Akron, but after watching him at CLE, I thought there was no saving him. Holmgren has turned him around a little, but he's still the 3rd stringer. Koren Robinson also makes his first start this yr. Rodgers will play for GB, and he will score against SEA's surprisingly poor "D" (27th overall, 30th ppg allowed). I know SEA is one of the toughest places to play, but this team is in chaos on the field. Too much QB & WR rotation for this gm.

What a surprise. This time a 4th Q meltdown, with a questionable call mixed in, dooms the Phins. That was a gutwrencher to watch. MIA had HOU the entire gm, and earned those INT's on Schaub. They efficiently drove the field for their scores, so when they gave up that punt TD, I knew that would make a difference. What an exciting gm, but what a crappy gm too! At least they covered. Geez, that doesn't even cheer me up!!!

Well, 3-3 on the day, with SD going to be the tiebreaker. POW hits though, so having a good day.

Yeah, posted plays for me down a hair today, but would've been +3 Units if not for Houstons' 52 second touchdown, as that killed the ML and the Houston TT Under 24 plays for me with 2 seconds left in the game :(

God, wasn't that gm sick? Talk about ultimate highs and lows in the 4th. I knew Andre would cause problems. Damn MIA let that one get away.

Jet, the Under looks to be good, but not sure NE can mount the comeback. However, I hope you keep living, so I hope NE & Under hit!
