Thank goodness ATL allowed yet another 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half comeback to extend my POW streak to 4 gms. Amazingly 2 other great comebacks (CLE’s was historic) allowed me to have a perfect slate, except for my vaunted teaser.
POW 4-1, Teasers 1-4, Overall 11-11-1
ATL (-3) has been atrocious on the rd esp in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Q. They blew leads there @ MIN then NYG. @ hm they’ve played much better albeit vs their weak div. Enter CHI who also blew a 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Q lead of their own last wk @ CAR. Trestman’s “O” has taken a bit of a hit w/LT Bushrod out. Cutler was sacked 4 times vs CAR & threw 2 picks. Cutler still had a nice day passing, but mostly due to short passes to Forte who led the team in receiving (12 rec’s; 105 yds). ATL may get some blitz pressure on Cutler @ hm where they do play a little better. I’m definitely not relying on ATL’s “D” here to get the win, as they rank near the bottom in almost every “D” category. However, the only other team to have as big & talented WRs as CHI would be ATL. White & Jones are matchup nightmares for any secondary, let alone CHI’s banged up one. Ryan should have an easy go here as CHI has multiple injuries on “D” highlighted by Lance Briggs being out. Devin Hester apparently has motivation vs his old team due to playing time issues in his final yrs there. That combined w/RB Antone Smith’s explosive plays could lead to some long TD’s for ATL. There’s little doubt that CHI should score some pts here, but I don’t see many ways CHI’s “D” will have much success vs a motivated team that is under intense scrutiny due to their slow start to the season. HC Mike Smith is coaching for his job & this would effectively be their last hm gm until 6 wks from now! Ryan still owns an incredible 38-10 SU record @ hm.
