Oh Mike Tomlin. I even called it that he manages to draw up a poor gameplan & doesn’t have his team ready to beat a team they have no business losing to. PIT allowed IND to run @ will when Richardson was still playing. When Flacco came in, they adjusted & actually did better on “D”. There were serious holding penalties on Watt that weren’t called, but that doesn’t affect their “D” against the run. Even w/Tomlin’s poor coaching, PIT very much should’ve won but Pickens fumbled @ the IND 5-yd line holding the ball w/1 hand, & Fields went 20 yds backward & tried to stay upright on a sack, which led to another fumble lost that killed scoring drives on both possessions. Luckily MIN held on in their domination of GB & Teaser hit w/out a sweat. Fellow RXers were rt in their prediction of CHI’s win over LAR, where the line did not make sense to me even after watching the gm. WAS helped me get close to even w/Daniels continuing his evolution of WAS. TB snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on Thurs by inexplicably not being able to hold onto the lead w/less than 2 min left in regulation & having the ball twice on “O”. Then they continued their high school tackling & bad angle woes in OT allowing the walk-off TD to KhaDarel Hodge. Yes, I didn’t know who he was either.
Regular Season POW 1-3, Teasers 3-2, GOY 0-0, Overall 8-10-3
GB -3 is off their epic loss to MIN, where they were down 28-7 @ halftime, but almost pulled off the SB LI comeback. Off MIN, LaFluer & GB is 8-2 SU & 7-3 ATS w/2 of those wins coming vs LAR. GB beat LAR @ hm last season (20-3 but w/out Stafford) & in ’21 36-28 in a shootout between Stafford & Rodgers. Also LaFluer is 4-0 SU/ATS vs his old boss McVay. Love was doing his best to shake off rust from a 2-gm absence vs MIN & that complex Flores “D”, which he eventually did in the 2nd half. So he’ll have no such rust vs the LAR 2nd worst “D” that allows the most yds per play & 2nd most ppg. Despite Love blowing up in half the gm vs MIN, I believe LaFluer will attack the soft middle of LAR’s “D” by running Jacobs & Wilson as long as he can. As bad as LA’s pass “D” is, if they can’t stop GB’s rushing attack, that will open up Reed & Wicks downfield for big plays. And DeAndre Swift blew up for CHI last wk vs LA. You can never count out McVay & Stafford despite all of the injuries @ WR & along their oline, so this may not be a blowout. And GB’s “D” isn’t very strong, relying a lot on TOs (best in league). If Jaire Alexander doesn’t return, that’s 1 ballhawk gone that would help Stafford keep the ball safe. And Kyren Williams is a solid RB that helps take some pressure off the pass gm. As usual, a big advantage for visiting teams to SoFi is LA fans never fill the stadium. GB fans travel well too, so I expect the crowd to be pro-cheesehead. Could be a tight gm, but Love & Jacobs will close out the gm to protect their early lead.
