Oh Mike Tomlin. I even called it that he manages to draw up a poor gameplan & doesn’t have his team ready to beat a team they have no business losing to. PIT allowed IND to run @ will when Richardson was still playing. When Flacco came in, they adjusted & actually did better on “D”. There were serious holding penalties on Watt that weren’t called, but that doesn’t affect their “D” against the run. Even w/Tomlin’s poor coaching, PIT very much should’ve won but Pickens fumbled @ the IND 5-yd line holding the ball w/1 hand, & Fields went 20 yds backward & tried to stay upright on a sack, which led to another fumble lost that killed scoring drives on both possessions. Luckily MIN held on in their domination of GB & Teaser hit w/out a sweat. Fellow RXers were rt in their prediction of CHI’s win over LAR, where the line did not make sense to me even after watching the gm. WAS helped me get close to even w/Daniels continuing his evolution of WAS. TB snatched defeat from the jaws of victory on Thurs by inexplicably not being able to hold onto the lead w/less than 2 min left in regulation & having the ball twice on “O”. Then they continued their high school tackling & bad angle woes in OT allowing the walk-off TD to KhaDarel Hodge. Yes, I didn’t know who he was either.

Regular Season POW 1-3, Teasers 3-2, GOY 0-0, Overall 8-10-3

GB -3
is off their epic loss to MIN, where they were down 28-7 @ halftime, but almost pulled off the SB LI comeback. Off MIN, LaFluer & GB is 8-2 SU & 7-3 ATS w/2 of those wins coming vs LAR. GB beat LAR @ hm last season (20-3 but w/out Stafford) & in ’21 36-28 in a shootout between Stafford & Rodgers. Also LaFluer is 4-0 SU/ATS vs his old boss McVay. Love was doing his best to shake off rust from a 2-gm absence vs MIN & that complex Flores “D”, which he eventually did in the 2nd half. So he’ll have no such rust vs the LAR 2nd worst “D” that allows the most yds per play & 2nd most ppg. Despite Love blowing up in half the gm vs MIN, I believe LaFluer will attack the soft middle of LAR’s “D” by running Jacobs & Wilson as long as he can. As bad as LA’s pass “D” is, if they can’t stop GB’s rushing attack, that will open up Reed & Wicks downfield for big plays. And DeAndre Swift blew up for CHI last wk vs LA. You can never count out McVay & Stafford despite all of the injuries @ WR & along their oline, so this may not be a blowout. And GB’s “D” isn’t very strong, relying a lot on TOs (best in league). If Jaire Alexander doesn’t return, that’s 1 ballhawk gone that would help Stafford keep the ball safe. And Kyren Williams is a solid RB that helps take some pressure off the pass gm. As usual, a big advantage for visiting teams to SoFi is LA fans never fill the stadium. GB fans travel well too, so I expect the crowd to be pro-cheesehead. Could be a tight gm, but Love & Jacobs will close out the gm to protect their early lead.

Honorable Mentions:

2 Units MIN
-2 ½: Was going to make this my POW however in London w/possible rain made me pull off. NYJ have a top “D” however they haven’t been challenged since Wk 1 vs SF. And Breece Hall struggling is not keeping pressure off Rodgers. So w/Flores’ confusing “D” that Rodgers has not faced yet, a bum knee, a still gelling oline & no chemistry w/#1 WR Wilson, MIN should come close to pitching a shutout. So if Darnold & co can break that NYJ code across the pond, this should be a breeze.

1 Unit CLE/WAS Over 43 ½: Fairly obvious play here w/Daniels humming along to ROY (and possible MVP) & WAS’ “D” not quite figuring out Dan Quinn’s schemes yet. Watson helming CLE’s “O” is definitely a concern, but CLE’s scoring output has been much better on the rd & are 8-2 on the Over since last yr. Hopefully TE Njoku returns to help bolster CLE’s “O”.

1 Unit SF -7: SF is 4-0 SU/ATS vs ARI, as DD favs no less. They’re getting healthier every wk on both sides of the ball & I can’t see ARI stepping up here as they’re still trying to figure out their identity on “O”. Honestly we’re lucky to get SF as just a TD fav here. I doubt that will be the case in their 2nd meeting @ ARI later in yr.

Worm. Love the Vikings here! What’s your opinion on Patriots injuries. I’m looking for any reason to back the Fins. We have to get our act together one of these games

Yeah I saw your scouting thread to Willie. Lol. There's no doubt MIA's "D" will get pressure on Briskett & they'll do enough against the run gm even w/Jaelen out. Calais Campbell is having a renaissance. And SEA pickup Brooks is looking good so far. Poyer is also out, so that's some experience missing on the back end, but is that really critical vs Briskett? The real question is our "O". Will the extra, short wk, be enough for Huntley to actually connect w/Tyreek & complete more underneath passes? MIA's "D" wore out vs BUF, SEA & TEN because the "O" couldn't sustain any drives. What makes me believe more in the "O" is the likely returns of Armstead & Mostert. Our oline completely changes when Terron is in. And not having Mostert's hard running & great zone reads on the outside has a big effect on the run gm. The WC is Beckham finally playing. Huntley & OBJ were teammates last yr, but didn't have much gm action together. OBJ won't have big #s & won't even play a majority of the snaps, but if he can catch 1 target for a 1st down or even a TD, that would likely be enough for a win. I feel the Under is the only safe play here, but MIA definitely has a great chance to win. It's all on McDaniel & Snoop.

I agree the under could be the play. Especially the patriots team total under. I just keep holding out faith that our offense is going to click one of these weeks.

Me too, man. But I think McDaniel is not that guy. He has a system & cannot adjust. Even w/Tua, when we went against "D"s that were stopping the big plays downfield, we didn't adjust to a run-heavy or short passing "O" to beat those smarter "D"s. But a huge part of those failures, same as now, is our weak oline. EVERY team that wins a SB has a great oline, even the cheating Chefs & Patriots before. So as long as Brewer, Eichenberg, Jones, Lamm & Cotton are seen along our starting oline, we will never go far in POs or beat the great teams no matter how good our QB or WRs are.

Wormy- agree with GB pick as I think their defense steps up big time this week after their poor performance against MN. Also agree with the WAS over….believe Watson has a big game.

Good luck today buddy!

I saw you were on CLE! Very brave backing Watson. He's awful. But he seems to perform a little better on the rd. Maybe because CLE hates him so much. Lol. I hope your team gets 1st win!

Winning day for you brother- nice work!
Huu Jax, what an unnecessarily stressful day! Lawrence & JAC "D" did not deserve to win that gm, but did just enough to pull it out. Happy for you! Jordan Love I felt had some action on LAR today. He looked awful against the worst secondary in the league. He was hesitant & made bad throws. GB should've run away w/that gm. Instead it came down to the final minutes & a stopped 2-pt conversion to cover. But Purdy took the prize for worst performance of the day. He threw that gm.

Thanks Indy!! Woo! Great to have these types of wks once in a while. I'm esp happy all of us here won on GB & MIN! As I said to Jax, Purdy did so horribly. Somethings wrong w/ him. He's not the usual, quick-thinking QB he was last 2 seasons. He's really holding back that "O".

Wormy Nice job my friend !
Same to you! That's why it's nice when we're in agreement!

ADDING:

1 Unit NOR/KC Under 43:
Both teams have great “D”s this yr & KC gets DE Danna back. Both “O”s are also struggling recently; KC w/its injuries @ RB & WR while NOR I noticed needs Taysom Hill to make things go. And it’s not him scoring that’s crucial, it’s his run blocking & presence on the field that opens up their “O”. He finally scored vs ATL, but went out w/fractured ribs in the 1st half & NOR couldn’t move the ball as well in 2nd half. Hill was also out in NOR’s loss to PHI where they scored 12 pts. NOR will also be w/out 2 starting olinemen here, so that impacts their run gm which they rely on for play-action. NOR is down 2 starters to their front-7 but Dennis Allen should be able to scheme KC’s surprisingly vanilla “O”.
