Firstly, my apologies to Cruncher, who I may've swayed to play DET last wk! Sorry man! Never'll do that again (have DET as my POW).
So, Wormy Pix stands at 0-1 thus far.
I always believed that teams win because of their trenchmen. Without at least decent o & d lines, a team can not be consistently competitive. Enter the Jaguars. Already without 2 backup linemen, they now suffered 3 more injuries, this time to starters. Center Manuwai, and both guards are out for this gm, prompting JAX to sign 3 free agent veterans. I'm not sure what their histories are, but they weren't good enough to stay with a team after cuts this yr, and they haven't had time to gel, which is vital for any o-line. Enter the Bills. They were surging coming into the season, and after a convincing win over SEA, they travel south for JAX's home opener. BUF's o-line is not the best, but they're very good, and so is their d-line. With Marcus Stroud returning to JAX, I see BUF's d-line putting tremendous pressure on Garrard, and plugging any potential holes the makeshift interior has to offer. JAX's d-line is still very good, but I think with BUF's safe, balanced "O", they won't be able to favor run nor pass at anytime. The true star unit for BUF though is their special teams. Parrish finished with 120 punt return yds (team record), and 1 TD last wk. Of course there was the fake FG TD also. Even Lindell recovered a fumble on a kickoff to set up a BUF TD. BUF's special teams helped account for 21 pts! And it's no fluke either, as BUF's ST's have been one of the best in the NFL the past 4 yrs. Finally, with Tom Brady out now, I can just imagine BUF thinking of taking the division. They're thrilled of the possibilities of making the playoffs as division champs this millennium. I see the spread going down, so I just hope the public doesn't sink this ship! This game was a borderline GOY for me, but didn't want to go bankrupt in the 2nd wk!
Wish me luck, and definitely BOL to all. And please, comments are welcome.
