What an awful start to the season. Firstly, PIT had every opportunity to cover the number, but the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] man for CLE in black & white stripes was too much to overcome. PIT was flagged 13 times for 144 yds. Almost a football field & a half in bonus penalty yds. PIT got CLE to many 4[SUP]th[/SUP] downs, which were wiped out by questionable penalties that kept their drives alive. On “O” PIT was sloppy. 1[SUP]st[/SUP] gm rust combined w/Tomlin not being a detail-oriented coach were to blame there. I made grievous capping errors in TEN, NOR & CIN. OAK is a true SB contender, so I shouldn’t have made TEN a play. NOR is a notoriously poor starter, having records of 0-2 the last 3 yrs. Finally I knew CIN was going to struggle on “O” this yr due to losing 2 starters on oline. I should’ve went w/BAL in that matchup since they were returning most of their starters.
POW 0-1, Teasers 0-1, Overall 3-4.
LAR -2 ½ has been the doormat of the NFL for many seasons. Enter HC McVay, who @ 31 became the youngest HC in NFL history. What were you doing @ 31? I was finally becoming a grown-up around then. McVay on the other hand rose thru the ranks in WAS as an assistant to becoming OC in just 4 yrs. WAS’ “O” instantly improved when he took over, & continued to rise along w/his development of Cousins. Now he’s the headman w/an impressive 1[SUP]st[/SUP] win. IND is an awful team, but so were the Lams. Talk about Goff being a bust already started last season. Now McVay’s magic touch seems to be off to a great start. Goff sprayed the field throwing to 8 different receivers for 306 yds, a TD & most importantly no pix. Cousins on the other hand still appears to need time w/his new receivers & life w/out McVay. WAS’ run gm struggled to get going & Cousins was under pressure far too much vs PHI. That can’t get any better now having to go on the rd, cross-country to play a morning gm against one of the most athletic “D”s in the land, who are also getting all-world DT Aaron Donald back from a contract hold-out. I have a very hard time seeing WAS getting it going on “O” here. LAR will have some trouble moving the ball as well, because WAS’ “D” is not the problem there. This is definitely a huge step-up in competition from last wk for LA, but they just have to win by a FG to cover.
