Disappointing POW but my analysis was actually spot on. NYG scored exactly as predicted, but DAL could not convert enough FGs into TDs to win the gm. Prescott performed well for a rookie vs a hated rival, however did not go to Dez enough to allow him to be a factor. The fact that he didn’t force shots to Dez shows maturity. Elliott still needs some polishing behind that great oline. ARI was the big loser as I was reminded of ARI’s sometimes spotty play in primetime. I have low hopes for them going deep into PO’s. Rest of plays did terrific.
POW 0-0-1, Teasers 1-0, Overall 4-1-1.
DEN (-6) made the unusual decision to go w/untested Trevor Siemian just prior to their much hyped up, SB rematch, season opener. Against one of the best “D”s in the land, Siemian struggled early throwing 2 pix. But the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] yr QB didn’t fold under the bright lights & immense pressure. He kept his composure & relied on CJ Anderson to complete the comeback w/2 TDs in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Q. Enter IND. Their “D” wasn’t very good last yr & now they have a lot of injuries to starters, mostly in their secondary. Stafford & co. lit up their “D” last wk w/out Pro Bowl corner Vontae Davis to the tune of 448 yds & 39 pts. Tackling was a huge issue as DET racked up an incredible 213 YAC. And it wasn’t just the pass that was killing IND. DET is traditionally a poor run team yet amassed 116 yds & 2 TDs on the ground. Can you imagine DEN’s run “O” against this hobbled “D”? DEN ran for 148 yds against CAR’s great run “D”, including 20 yds from Siemian. Action is being thrown IND’s way due to their recent history vs DEN. Specifically their last 2 tilts where Luck was under pressure, but managed to complete a handful of critical throws to edge the favored Broncos. Peyton seemed to have a soft spot for IND & did not play his best gms against his old team. I feel w/Siemian & CJ now running the show, DEN’s “D” will be more rested & not playing w/their backs to the endzone often. That will be the difference as IND will not be able to outscore this current DEN unit. DEN is coming off a long wk while IND is worse for wear off their marathon loss, & now have to battle the thin air @ Mile High.
