4-0! Ain’t gonna lie, that was much needed. PIT performed beautifully, aided by the injury to starting QB Jones. Ben comes in & simply throws for 350 yds. CAR dominated TEN while MIA picked up a very ugly win @ PHI (knocking out Bradford in the process).

ATL (-5) is off their much-needed bye as they get players back from injury as well as regroup from a 2 gm losing streak. The biggest return I think will help is WR Hankerson. He’s #3 on depth chart, but he was Ryan’s safety blanket outside of Julio. He was excited to talk about his return to practice when asked by reporters about “Hank.” Most important for ATL off their bye is time to correct serious issues that have cost them their last 4 gms. Penalties, “O” TO’s & redzone production. The return of Hankerson & IND’s below avg “D” should help in the last 2. HC Quinn worked on reducing penalties over the bye. Luck amazingly pulled out a huge win over rival DEN despite a lacerated spleen. In comes 40 yr old Hasselbeck, who is 2-0 as a starter this yr. However, those were vs HOU & JAX, & were narrow victories @ that. ATL’s so-so “D” should be enough to contain Gore & Hasselbeck, who should be relying heavily on short passes. Even if IND’s “O” gets going, ATL’s struggling “O” can take advantage of IND’s suspect secondary. Vontae Davis has been nice, but Toler on the other side has been a liability @ times. I think that’s where Hank & Roddy can make some plays. Julio may get back to his homerun ways w/play-making S Mike Adams out for the gm. DT Henry Anderson will be a big loss for IND’s dline. Robert Mathis is starting to gain steam, but Anderson was a key cog in stuffing the run & taking up blockers. This should translate to more time for Ryan’s deep ball & get Devonta Freeman back on track after getting shutdown by SF. Both teams are in hunt for PO spots making this gm important for both. But I feel w/ATL’s “O” & “D” much healthier from their last 2 gms while IND is limping in off a huge win, ATL can continue their hm dominance. Matt Ryan has also won his last 4 gms off the bye (ATS & SU).
