Well, I would’ve gone 5-0 on the wk if not for a career performance from Luck, who apparently did most of his magic w/a broken spleen. DEN is certainly the better team, but IND as of late absolutely owns Peyton Manning. Maybe he can’t bring himself to beat IND. But even DEN’s vaunted “D” allowed Old Man Gore to pound them on the ground. Very odd gm & I’ll just chalk that one up as bad luck (which I’ve been suffering a lot of recently).

POW 4-4-1, Teasers 3-3, Overall 20-23-1

PIT (-6) is off a stinging loss to div rival CIN. Not only did it hurt to likely lose the AFC North, but Ben also went down w/a sprained ankle. He’s listed as questionable, but is expected to sit. In comes the enigma Landry Jones. In relief, he looks unstoppable. When he starts, he looked like a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] yr 4[SUP]th[/SUP] rd draft pick backup. PIT’s top 10 “D” seems to play better w/Jones in, perhaps due to becoming more focused when you know your “O” can’t score on a whim anymore. Jones had a hard time connecting w/Antonio Brown @ KC, but managed to add to Brown’s insane totals vs OAK last wk in relief. So if he can keep that rhythm up, CLE’s depleted secondary will be in trouble. CLE is again w/out talented DBs Whitner & Haden, but are also banged up w/the second stringers. Tashaun Gipson missed practice Friday due to an illness. He’s likely to play, but if he’s not @ 100% that could have a huge impact late in the gm. CLE has been awful on “D” all yr, but are particularly bad on the rd. CLE is giving up 29 ppg on the rd & is the worst in the NFL in ppg period. So CLE will need to score in order to keep this close, esp w/DeAngelo Williams doing more than enough to fill in for Bell. Enter Johnny Football. I’ve NEVER been a fan of him, but I’ll give the devil his due, he’s really controlled the TO’s this yr. But “D”s are getting smarter & keeping him in the pocket as much as possible, which leads to his 50% comp rate. He’ll have 1 good drive the entire gm & that’s about it. McCown will start if he feels better Sunday morning, but the expectation is Manziel will play. CLE kept both gms tight last yr vs PIT, but Shanahan’s zone blocking really caused Tomlin’s “D” trouble which led to huge rushing gms from CLE’s RBs. Shanahan is now in ATL & PIT’s young “D” is much improved, not just from last yr, but from the start of this yr. Ben will be the backup QB according to reports, so if Jones gets hurt that could improve PIT’s “O”. Martavis Bryant should have a field day against CLE’s hobbled secondary. To add on to CLE’s woes, starting LG Bitonio is also out, which puts 1[SUP]st[/SUP] rd pick Cameron Erving against DE Cameron Heyward.

CLE 13
PIT 27
5 Units

Honorable Mentions:

1 Unit CAR -4 & @ half -3: Looks like bigtime setup, but reports out of CAR is they’re not taking TEN lightly, esp after their big win over NOR last wk. TEN’s oline is still young despite shakeup from Mularkey, so CAR’s uber talented front 7 will take advantage. I still don’t think Newton is a good QB, but J-Stew & Greg Olsen have done enough to get this team to 8-0. Put a unit on CAR @ the half due to their poor play in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half the last 3 gms.

1 Unit MIA +6: Sigh. I have very little faith in my Dolphins, but PHI just hasn’t looked good all yr. Bradford’s throws can be way short @ times which leads to INT’s. PHI’s run gm could have a big day against MIA’s 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] worst run “D”, but I suspect they’ll play better here since PHI is not a AFC East team. If MIA commits to the run, they should win a tight one here.

Looking @ CIN on MNF but hoping the line & juice go down.

I had success fading PHI (mostly with Team Total UNDERs)--but I am worried the value in that strategy may have run its course. They seem to have figured out their offense a bit, despite Bradford's ineptitude.

You are right Chonce that PHI is better on "O". But they're still bad. That just shows you how bad they were to start the season. The run gm improving is the true reason why they're scoring more now. I have a hunch that MIA's run "D" does enough to make the gm close.
This is Mia 3rd road game
That is a concern AM. But coming off beatdowns from 2 hated rivals (off NE was 10 days too), I feel MIA sees a chance to rebound against a much softer team. And thankfully 2 rd gms were on east coast.

Thanks Gravy, looking to get off the schneid here!! I know you were all against CLE last wk, I hope PIT can repeat CIN's efforts against Manziel.
Good luck today Worm!! I like the Phins today- lets get it done!
Really Jax?! Man, I sure hope you're right. MIA is my true hunch play of the day! Just feel after those 2 disappointing losses to BUF & NE, they come out firing today. BOL bud!

Who is this team? We need some consistency!! And a freakin win!!!!
Cash, I think MIA is just not coached well enough to overcome familiarity that Belicheat & Ryan have w/the team. I'm actually hoping we can beat NYJ in 2nd meeting. Heck, I'm obviously hoping for a good showing @ PHI!!

Not with you on any or against you on any. I do think it's risky to bet Pitt without Ben at the helm, especially in a divisional game and by more than the FG. I hope you nail them down today my friend.

Good luck Wormy Pix

Finally some luck went my way, United! Although the fact that if Jones got hurt Ben would come in was a part of my capping. But man, did that really help PIT "O"! I would like to think that if Jones had stayed in they still would've covered, but it was close early on.

Thanks for kind words, my friend. Keep up the great work.

Alright!! Finally a perfect wk. Been flirting w/one here & there, so it's a huge relief to have a big day finally. MIA win was most satisfying! Big rd win for Phins.

CIN should cover 12 tomorrow, but I'll just take my winnings this wk & look to next wk. BOL on everyone's action tonight & tomorrow.
