KC floundered on “O” in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half, but calmly covered the number last wk over the Vick-led Jets. MIN won another thriller vs WAS, while MIA cruised against SD as the whole team played inspired ball for their HC. Once again the teaser goes down, which has the opposite record of my POW, so I guess I should be happy. DEN’s inspiring effort @ NE was the guilty party for last wk’s downfall. My rare MNF pick went down in flames too, where off a bye @ hm in primetime weren’t enough positive factors to help the hapless Giants keep it competitive against the balanced Colts.
POW 6-3, Teasers 3-6, Overall 22-20-1
KC (-1) for some reason has played BUF the past 6 yrs. BUF is 4-2 SU & 5-1 ATS in their dominance in this series. Last yrs matchup was an ugly one seeing the only “O” TD from Jeff Tuel on a 59 yd TD pass to Marquisse Goodwin. But 3 TO’s were the difference as Sean Smith intercepted Tuel on their goal line for a 100 yd INT return TD, & KC also scored off a fumble recovery, helping them win 23-13. BUF was able to keep pace for most of the gm thanks to Spiller & F-Jax dominating the ground gm w/193 yds, & also catching 3 balls for 61 yds. Early reports have Jackson sitting this gm w/a groin injury in anticipation of a short wk before their matchup @ MIA on Thurs. W/Spiller out for the yr, that’s 250 yds of missing “O” from last yrs tilt. Stud WR Watkins pulled his groin in Wed’s practice, making him a GTD. That would be even more missing “O” for BUF, as he avg’s 73 ypg & has 5 TDs on the yr. Kyle Orton has rejuvenated BUF’s “O”, but his numbers aren’t much better than Manuel’s. The team believes his veteran leadership is the difference. This may be the case as his 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] down comp % leads the league, but BUF’s “D” still plays the largest part in BUF’s success this yr. BUF is forcing a lot of TO’s which hides their own 8 TO’s in the last 4. KC “O” only has 6 TO’s on the whole yr, as the ultra conservative Andy Reid “O” plays strict ball control. KC should win the TO battle here & win a tight one, led by Charles & Davis. I don’t know if it’s because KC DC Bob Sutton was in the AFC East for 13 yrs, but they’ve dominated the East thus far & I see it continuing at Ralph Wilson (KC 3-0 vs East @ 20 ppg).
