Phew, it’s been a tuff preseason for me, being very busy & not able to study NFL as much as I normally do. Put in a cram session this wk following Labor Day weekend, & managed to hit a Unit on DET +5 on the NFL opener. Missing both Kelce & Chris Jones obviously showed up in that gm, however KC was still in it until the end. DET played well on both sides of the ball, but I would not put too much stake in the “upset.” Anyway, I’m absolutely thrilled for the season to start, so let’s get to work!
2022 FINAL LINE
Final Regular Season POW 11-7, Teasers 8-11, GOY 0-1, Overall 43-44-2 (47-51-2 undocumented)
Playoff POW 1-3, Teasers 3-0, GOY 0-1, Overall 10-6, SB record since 07: 5-11
WAS -7 finished their ho-hum season @ 8-8-1 & last place in the East. They suffered a handful of injuries & poor play from their 3 starting QBs, so that record is actually a credit to the team. Riverboat Ron is squarely on the hot seat this season as he attempts to keep the team afloat in a highly competitive div. Sam Howell has been given the reigns w/1 NFL start. He has the tools to succeed. WRs McLaurin, Dotson & Samuel are highly underrated receivers, while Robinson & Gibson are very nice RBs. WAS’s oline went thru a makeover, but have the pieces there to be decent if the starters stay healthy. New OC Eric “Sleeping with” Bieniemy comes over from KC to try to prove it wasn’t all Andy Reid w/that prolific “O”. So this WAS “O” is highly intriguing. Their bread & butter however will be their “D”. That front line might be the best in football. And that’s w/out former #1 draft pick Chase Young. Payne, Allen & Sweat form a fearsome unit that makes their pedestrian secondary look good. Enter the Cardinals. Losing a bulk of their best players on both sides of the ball, ARI is clearly in rebuild mode. New HC Jonathan Gannon comes over from PHI, where he’s already gotten his new team in trouble for admitting to speaking w/ARI brass during SB wk (not allowed). Gannon will likely start Joshua Dobbs @ QB, behind a makeshift oline that is razor thin. Dobbs was only recently signed, so he barely knows his teammates. 5th rd rookie QB Clayton Tune has a chance to start, however feeding him to the wolves this early on the rd isn’t a smart thing to do. On the other side of the spectrum, ARI’s dline can’t pressure the QB, & can’t stop the run, so gamer Sam Howell should have a great opponent to work out the kinks & show his team he can hold his own this season.
