Its that time of year again and the World Juniors get underway December 26th. I got a good price on the favourite Canadians, +100 at a European book which moved the line. Bet365 and Pinny are offering -110 and since Betfair is covering the tournament hedging opportunities will be available.

Haven't seen any US facing books offering lines yet but suspect 5 Dimes may make a book.

Yah, I got a very favourable price as well and layed it down on Canada. One thing that favours a Canadian victory is the officiating. It is always very one sided, and this year should be no exception. One need only look at the delay of game penalties (or lack thereof) today in Canada vs. Slovakia to see that Canada will get all the calls. This will help.

The only team that worries me is the US, they have a great top line with Van Riemsdyk and Schroeder. They took care of Russia with ease yesterday, 5-1. I'm almost thinking of hedging a bit with them, after Canada has IMO started a bit slow.

So for today I've got Canada-2.5 and a small bet on USA-3.5.

By the time I got around to playing USA the line at Pinny had moved to -5, so I guess there was very one sided action.

Took Russia - 4.5 , 1.55 odds at betandwin . Think Latvia shouldn't be a problem for them . Overall I think this will be an over in this game but really depends on Latvia and if they can score 2 or more .

No big surprise as the few books who post lines on this tournament don't really care about low limit action and just look at results from past years to make lines. Sweden and the US will pose real problems for Canada...

lol one thing you dont do is fade Canadian hockey. This is one sport we simply dominate plain and simple. Fade us in all others sports but save your money and dont even try it with hockey.

For tomorrow I have Canada-7 for a half unit. I figure if Germany wins 9-0 over Kazakhstan then Canada should be good for a 7 goal differential. Also took USA-2.5 for a unit, and may play a little on USA-0.5, against the Czechs.

As I thought if Germany went 9-0 then Canada went 15-0 against Khazakhstan. The line for Canada against Germany is -7.5 which I think just favours Canada so I bet a half unit.

The big story yesterday was USA looking very ordinary against the Czechs in a 4-3 win. While they get a shooting fest against Khazakhstan tomorrow they go against Canada on Wednesday. This is a much anticipated game and the toughest for both teams. However yesterday's USA performance gives Pat Quinn some excellent tape to study and figure out why the Czechs were able to stifle USA. Seemed to me that apart from their big line they lack the depth that Canada has and I fully expect Canada to take the tournament.

Woody0 after watching the usa game aswell they take alot of lazy penalties as well as taking penalties in the offensive zone. Also they looked very confused on some face offs players not knowing where to go and who to cover if they play like that against Canada I look for Canada to take full advantage espically on the PP John Tavares and Ryan Ellis are PP elite in the tournament I just can't see the USA doing much of anything against Canada espically in the spotlight on New Years Eve. Hopefully the USA will blow out Khazakhstan like Canada did and we can get a favourable line against the USA!

Nothing I really like here. I figured Canada would be -0.5 but the line has already been driven down 23 points on the -1.5 line.

I did take the Russia ML for a half unit. The game's on TSN so I might take some more near or during the game.

I've Canada to win Group A which means a win tomorrow so I probably just stay with that and watch the game as I'll be with family. My group A bet was at -167

Also got for half a unit each Germany-2 and USA-4.5. Don't like the handicap price on Russia.
