A buddy and me were thinking about purchasing some of those loose candy/gumball machines and placing them at various spots. I am trying to think of some prime locations to place the machines like churches, strip joints, bars.

Are these type of machines profitable and is it easy to get businesses to let you use their facilities to make a buck?

good locations = no break ins and no vandalism.

pig...you find locations by new store openings, vending machines that are not, expired dates on product.
owner of stores % depends on how much business a location does.

I had 20 of these and I'm trying to get rid of them. I had mostly shitty locations though. You put a charity sticker on the machine and pay the charity $1 per month for each sticker. That is why businesses allow you to put them there. My best locations were a plumbing supply company, an electric supply co., and a mechanics place. Blue collar workers buy more of it. The profit margin is pretty good. You pay about $2 a lb for the candy a BJ's and it vends for about $8 a lb. Start of with maybe 5 good locations and go from there. Don't be an ass like me and start off with 20

I was thinking more on the lines for the employees and not the customers. Most of the strippers are either speed-freaks or coke-heads so they do develop a sweet tooth. You put one of those puppies in those whores dressing rooms and they will snack on them. Not to mention a chance to get on real first name basis with the strippers and getting an easy fuck. Just a thought.....

I registered here just for this thread and Iceman's "creating wealth" thread.

Used to have a small vending route - 9 accts. grossing about 90M. Yes, it's great BUT the best accounts are usually taken and hard to break into.

Okay, 2 points, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RESPOND TO THE 800 NOS. NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT SOUNDS!!!! PLEASE REREAD.....!!!

Secondly, the no. 1 best accounts are nursing homes. The employees are under a lot of stress and typically eat a lot of candy and snacks. The facility is open every hour so you can fill ANYtime. Great for parttimers. Downside is you might have to fill on a holiday to meet the schedule.

I can't tell you specifically how to get those accts. because each situation is different. In general, start with the employees. Are they satisfied? If not, why? Can you make it better? If so, that's easy. The hard part is getting to the decision maker to sell your services. Good Luck.

Lastly, do not offer to handle perishables - dairy and sandwiches, usually.
Too much loss. Employees insist they'll eat it. They lie.

So lets say you're an absolute beginner looking to enter the market - how do you go about it?

Do you try to find a place that needs a machine and then act as if you're got a big business going? Once they say they'll let you have a machine, then you go buy it at costco and fire it up?

What kind of contracts do the stores usually want?

What if your machine gets jammed up, breaks, gets smashed, etc? Who do you call to fix it?

What about this -- you know those photohunt games at the bar where you have to touch the screen where there are differences in the 2 pictures?

Those are on Ebay for like $700. Think you could make some decent bank with those??

The obvious places such as: Car dealerships, repair shops, factories and schools are very hard to get into.

One place that gets overlooked are those self serve car washes. I bought one for my car wash and it did pretty well and was only vandalized once.

To make real money get into amusement games such as Juke boxes, pool tables and games such as golden tee or silver strike, but the investment is much higher.

To really bring in the cash go with the Cherry Machines, but of course some people may consider them illegal, but there are ways around that.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

way,way to high
what is a proper percentage to offer the store owner for putting the machine in there?

like 10% of net sales? I figure he's gonna want at least that for having the damn thing plugged into his outlet, maybe a little more if the machine is inside or he watches over it for protection.
