I love the Minn and TB pick....can you tell me why you like the cubs over 8.5???? I know Contrares gets a little roughed up against the Cubs, but they have several injuries to their core players (Soriano, Fukadome, etc.) and I think that will start to get at them....plus Dempster has been pitching SOLID ball recently....
Miamiboy, I hope you cashed this over!!Last Sunday Contreras pitched against the Cubs he lost and his stats were:
<table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" width="100%"><tbody><tr class="bg4" align="center"><td> </td><td>W-L</td><td>ERA</td><td>G</td><td>IP</td><td>H</td><td>ER</td><td>BB</td><td>SO</td></tr> <tr class="bg2" align="center"> <td>2008</td> <td>0-1</td> <td>24.30</td> <td>1</td> <td>3.1</td> <td>10</td> <td>9</td> <td>2</td> <td>1</td></tr></tbody></table>In five career starts against the Cubs, Contreras is 1-3 with a 6.39 ERA.
Dempster gave up 1 run on 10 hits at home vs CWS, where he is also 9-0.
He is not as good on the road and the CWS are looking for payback at home. Not having these players in the Cubs lineup will also hurt their defense. Just look at yesterdays game vs Balt., Chic had to 2 errors to go along with the 13 Orioles hits.
I see a 8-5 game today
