UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland treated and released a woman struck by a foul ball Monday night at PNC Park, according to the city Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
EMS division chief Ron Romano said the woman was stable and talking when medics reached her, just a few minutes after the ball hit her head near home plate. He said the first responder arrived within 3 minutes of the incident, which occurred during the second inning.
The game between the Pirates and Cubs was delayed 23 minutes as responders helped the woman, who went to Presby in an ambulance. Medics and Pirates officials did not release her name, citing privacy restrictions.
Team spokesman Brian Warecki said the woman was examined at the hospital, but he did not elaborate on her care there.
“We are extremely grateful for this positive outcome. The organization is in the process of reaching out to her to show our support,” Warecki said in a statement, thanking fans, ballpark workers and medics at the scene.
