I was there last year, it was pretty cool. The landing strip comes in over the ocean and the planes take off into the opposite direction and have to make a quick bank because of mountains.
I stood on the beach for a bunch of landings (it's a really small beach with bars at the end), I don't remember anything coming close to blowing me away
They had one very large plane that landed everyday about 12 noon to 2 PM. A KLM 747 that arrived from Amsterdam, but I read recently that they were stopping that flight.

I was just there in January, the landings don't effect you, its the take offs, I stayed away during a takeoff and the pilot gives everyone a thumbs up before he turns around on the strip and guns it...
They don't let anyone hang on the fence anymore cause its on the other side of the road and a plane hit the fence a while back with its wheels, you gotta stay on the beach area from what I saw

Ton's of people on that beach every day, I never thought I was in any sort of danger. No more so than swimming in the ocean
PS: I never saw the very largest planes take off, that's probably a difference maker
Saw this old thread and it made me feel awkward. Ok, I understand that people like extreme and stuff, but this... well, it's just damn stupid. The worst thing about it is that someone allows old planes to fly over the beach. I can't explain what happened there in the other way. Old planes must be utilized. I would never fly on an old, unsafe plane. Last time I just had found private jet rentals for a good price when I was off to my vacation. And it was a new, shining plane. Because I care about my safety. And all these people from this story... well, maybe they are suicides? I dunno.
