With training, do you feel you could run a 4.8 40?

In High School a ran a 5.0 & 4.9
I was Wayyyyyy Younger and more fit.

Today .. even with Training .. Don't think I could break a 5.6 or 5.7

a few years ago I went to the track to run some sprints - after 3 100's I had pulled both hamstrings - with training I think I could run a 4.9 - as a kid that's what I could run - maybe I'm kidding my old ass

To be honest i don't think training has much to do with it.

You're either born with speed (and athletic ability) or you're not...

If you couldnt run a 4.8 in high school or maybe in college, you wont be able to do it now. ( and you can train as long as you want)

People dont seem to realize how fast 5.0 is.

Darrell Green still ran a 4.4 at 40 years old.

If you have some speed to begin with, whatever it may be, taking care of yourself means you COULD maintain it even with age...

True but 40 times are "kinda" about speed. We all hear of the companies that can shave half a sec (or more) off your time with proper technique and starting tips. Then there are all the reports of a kid having a great 40 time but his games speed sucks.

Right it's like punching power or dunking a basketball

With a lot of training you can minimally improve it but 90% of it is God given
