Yeah man, hate them bitches.. hate everything. hate em all.

If they ain't like me, they are going to get hated on!

Yeah.. get them suckas

I think you need to read into the thread a little more closely.

Some of us think teaching something as controversial as transgenderism to our kids is not what the school should be teaching. That subject should be best left to the parents and the Church which is a moral and ethical foundation for many of us.

Why do "they" have a superior moral authority to parents? Why?

The natural order of things says "they" don't. And I'll bet when it comes to this subject that the vast majority of the country agrees with me.

Did you ever consider that it may be "them" who hates us and our traditional belief system?

But you hardcore GOP should not worry what your kids are taught in public schools.

Just set 'em straight once they arrive home.

Let them know that any and all forms of LGBT are trash human beings who will cook on high broil in the Seventh Ring of Hades.

Then it will just come down to who the kids perceive as most credible, the school teacher or you.

Not worried about that, are you?

The vast majority think we should be tolerant of others - but don't you think this could be confusing to a little kid? just a tad? some days we feel like a girl and some days we feel like a boy? no, 99.99% of us don't feel that way

We agree. Parents can set the kids straight by immersing them in a flow of information from churches and their (parents) own beliefs that all LGBT people are sub humans worthy of disrespect and disdain.

No way the schools can offset parents who stay focused on this important message!

There are probably more transgender people in the US, then parents that teach the hate you are referring too.

And as far as you bringing up churches, the church my family goes to (UU) is the most inclusive organization I've ever been a part of.

We have to bend over backwards for some fractional minority, so damn pathetic, especially when they're sending the wrong message

If you want a color blind / judgement free society, stop dividing is with talk about color or telling is we need to be more tolerant of people who are different. the only message should be "we're all the same", and we "treat people with respect", and we all "have the same freedoms and the same opportunities"

I was a public high school teacher for 32 years and had quite a few kids in the last decade in class who thought of themselves as gay and talked about transgender rights quite a bit. It's pretty simple as a teacher. Like the previous poster said treat all students with respect and teach the curriculum and keep your opinions out of it as you are paid to teach not editorialize. If they try and get you off track your job as a professional is to know the boundaries and teach within it. I don't feel sorry for any of these teachers who decide to go outside the curriculum and do their own thing. They know the consequence when they do and if they don't they should not be teaching.

My son is in elementary school and had a "sex ed" lesson a few weeks ago. He told he learned about transgenders. My wife and I werent aware he'd be learning that and we were a tad "weirded out" by it (and we're pretty open minded people)

Welcome to 2019. Cant wait to see what the next decade has in store for us!!

K-5 sounds kind of young to start sex ed. (to be honest, I didnt read the full article as of typing this) 5-6th sound about right though. I think the way to look at it is as if it was sex ed / sociology. Sex ed isnt just penis/vagina. Its anatomy, hygiene, and socio-sexual lessons. (manners, dating, general non anatomical info). I dont know how the lesson in question went but I have a few friends that are gym teachers / coaches in middle and high school and I have actually asked them about this. When the portion of gender (rather than sex - anatomy based) they review the trans, cross, bi, etc as more of a "hey this exists out there". More or less a vocabulary lesson and then move on. They are out there, they exist, bc you dont like or agree with what they do... it doesnt matter. Lets face it, your opinion of a certain group has no bearing on them and wont change anything. The average person will come across members of those groups sooner or later and what the kids are taught is vocabulary and take away the "shock" factor for when the time comes for them interact in the real world.

Thats just what the small group of people I have talked to about it had to say.

"all LGBT people are sub humans worthy of disrespect and disdain."

There are very few, if any, on the right in here that would agree with that statement.

That is just pure delusional, paranoid bullshit.

Show me the churches who preach that ANYONE is subhuman. Maybe mosques. But not Christian churches or Jewish synagogues.

You must be talking about Muslim children taught to hate the infidel in school and mosques. THAT IS A FACT!!!

I do not care about how people identify themselves, they can do think whatever they want or need to make themselves feel better.
As long as they do not bother me or my life I am good with them. I will respect and treat everyone the same as long as they do the same back...

I do not get your thought process, very skewed....

it's called radical liberalism and there is no cure

they make shit up, tell each other it's true, then push one step further to the bizarre and rinse and repeat the message. they have no god, no morals, no life playbook so they keep moving their goal posts toward the insane which they then pretend is the new normal. the only thing crazier than the shit they say/type today is the shit they will say/type tomorrow.
