you cant go wrong with a Dell I have both a laptop and PC there CS is second to none

I don't see the need to spend more than $1000.

dell's are good for the price with good customer service.

IBM have slightly more expensive but better quality so it depends on how much you wanna spend.

Dell used to have a $100 replacement guarantee for laptops. If you dropped it they would replace it for $100. Came in handy for me.

Take a look at the "N" series from Fujitsu.

16" screen, DVD-RW, 3.0 GHZ, 60 to 80 GB HD, 64 MB Video Card, 512 SDRAM, 4 USB 2.0 Ports and built in wireless network adapter.

It will set you back around 2 dimes, but by far this is the best notebook (desktop replacement) available.

I just got mine and I love it. The display screen is incredible!

I have 3 HPs (2 laptop, 1 desktop with 2 being wireless) and have few problems.

I teach classes on wireless networking and we have used Dell, HP and some off brands. I like Apples the best for everything, but if you want to stick with a Windows-based computer, HP would be my choice. Better value for what you get than Dell in my opinion.
