Let's be fair & look at this realistically.

You can count on 1 hand the African-American NFL QB's who could even be remotely be mentioned in the same breath as so many great Caucasian NFL QB's, the same exact way you can count on 1 hand Caucasian Running Backs compared to all of the great African-American RB's in NFL History.

Hopefully everyone gets my point above, meaning as much as we like to avoid the subject, certain ethnicities have more success in some areas of sports as others do.

I've heard a lot of people raving about Jameis Winston.

But, if you do the math, what are his odds of actually being successful in the NFL?

Again, through the decades, including the last 10-15 years where we've heard talk of more African-American QB's, there STILL has been little success, again, just like there has been little & rare success with Caucasian RB's.

So, who does Jameis Winston even shoot for being as good as??

There's only a few worth mentioning.

Warren Moon, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Randall Cunninham, Doug Williams.

So those few vs all that have failed, the odds say that Winston will fail...

This is one of the best "lets play the race card" while pretending that we are being fair and unbiased
posts ever written on the RX.

Good job Hache.

The subject is based on facts & reality.

What's the problem?

Some of you guys act like you can't discuss things like this in a civil matter...

Society today at it's finest. You can't ever give an opinion because people get their feelings hurt. If you don't think it's okay for gays to marry you're a bigot. If you don't like Obama you're racist.

This could go in the thread about what's wrong with America today.

You're right and Hache is right.

Some people search for reasons to say that thier feelings were hurt or that they are offended......People's problems or bad moods are always somebody else's fault......always.

I dont think people are as offended as much as the media wants us to think they are,
It is mostly a psychological trick used used by any minority to paint the opposition as bad guys
which then get perpetuated and spread by the media in the name of ratings.

I hope you're right SS.

But let's be honest, the odds are against it...

We shall see. On the field he is far away the better prospect. He has everything you look for. I believe the off the field issues are sensationalized and the only major concern is the rape allegations, which we all have different opinions on. He is a leader with a reputation for being a hard worker. The odds shouldn't be so stacked up against him. People have already made up their minds on him and most aren't going to change.

I think you are confusing black QB with running QB.
If you look at all the black QBS that have been successful they have all been pocket passers first, and running QBs 2nd.

Moon, Williams, McNabb(even though he was a great runner was PP first. Cunningham started his career as a runner but he also became a pocket passer.

The point is Winston is a 100% pure pocket passer.

You can't compare his skill set to Vick, Geno, and people like that.

For the longest I have been very anti JW.
But I would be thrilled of Tampa passed on him right now.

This is not a reach.

He would be the first pick of any draft in the last 10 years besides the one draft Andrew Luck was in.

He may have went below Stafford in that draft only because of the off the field issues.
But other then those 2 drafts he is the 1st pick every single year.

I mean there have not been that many 1st round level black QBs that were primary pocket passers.

And the ones that were/are have had about the same success/failure rate as the white QBs.

McNabb, Leftwitch, Culpepper, Moon, Williams, Cam.

Some of those guys can run but they are all pocket passers.
Leftwitch was on his way to a great career till he got hurt. Same thing for Culpepper.

Then you throw in Bridgewater who is a pocket passer. He is off to a great start.

The running QB bust thing also applies to white QB.

Manzel, Tebow, etc...

Its just there there have been less running white QBs then black QBs so its not noticeable.

Most of us have heard the phrase "The Great White Hope".

It means when there's a Caucasian athlete that comes along & appears to have a shot of being great or the most dominant in a sport in which a white athlete usually isn't, then he is the idol white ppl supposedly root for to do so.

For example, Gerry Cooney was once considered thus in boxing.

Well Jameis Winston is the "The Great Black Home" in this case...

It appears the Bucs will take him so im hoping it turns out well.

2 things im worried about more than off the field issues:

1. The interceptions
2. The best team he played was his last in Oregon, and he didn't impress.

I will say something positive about him.

I don't mind him skipping the draft once I learned he wants to be with his grandmother (who likely raised him) on the most important day of his life because his grandma is unable to travel.

Having said that, when was the last time a stupid qb was a franchise qb? That is it. This stuff isn't that hard. Look at the great qb's and the ones who win super bowls, they are all intelligent.

I can respect the grandma thing. A man raised by a woman should respect women more you ought to think... This guy is a fucking menace and shouldn't be allowed to have freedom, much less fame and fortune.

You will start hearing stories this fall how he was at F$U more than the Tampa complex. Guy has no emotional control, self awarenesss, or intelligence. He will be tricked by NFL coverages and never get it. His best year will be his 1st or 2nd year. Will always have legal crap around him. Will buy the biggest mansion in Tampa that will eventually be foreclosed for not paying property taxes because he doesn't know what they are. His agent will end with his $$. You will never be able to open up a playbook with Lovie Smith and Winston. Maybe the worst coach/ qb combo in the league. Can you make all the throws? Great. Can you throw to your 3rd read while looking off the fs and avoiding the outside rush on a bad team? If you are a qb chosen 1st overall, you have to have the talent to turn it around on you alone.

Colts were 2-14 in 2011 with no real qb....Same roster next year with Luck... 11-5.
