The internet is a powerful tool, where one can get information in minutes instead of the hours one had to put in in say, 1980.

Having said that, you could be armed to the teeth with information, but if you can't manage your money, if you keep chasing losing wagers, if you keep being a degenerate, you will lose, it's just that simple.

Welcome aboard newbie, you'll like it here.
Good luck, hope your second half baseball wagers, and the football season bring you success.

Someone asked me recently why I thought I won at this and the best answer I could come up with (other then working hard) is information.

Without sitting here all a day having info at my finger tips I don't think I could do this and win. Some of the stuff out there that I look at is so helpful. It is almost unbelievable how much great info one can find on the internet in any sport nowadays, IMO.

So to answer your question, I think without a doubt that all the information that is out there today only helps the player beat this very difficult game. I couldn't imagine trying to attempt this without it or how I must have went about it all say 10 years ago.

If you do all the little things like bet openers, have 5+ accounts, shop for lines, play at reduced juice shops (Playing mainly at Matchbook this baseball season has put me from - to + just on that fact alone, would definetley be losing at a -110 only baseball shop), etc...

I think if you do all that with working to find information, you should be able to do this at a breakeven rate at worse.

Just my two cents, good luck!!!!!

Everybody has access to the same information on the net. It's the ones who are the most creative in using it that are the most successful. And you don't learn it overnight. Another huge aspect of it is actually watching the games. In my case college football. I've learned to spot strengths and weaknesses in teams. And can usually spot a team who is playing in such a way that I know they are sitting on a big effort. Again, you don't learn this stuff overnight. It takes practice and knowing what to look for.

A very good point that I left out. Once you figure out what info to use, you have to no when, where and how to apply it.

Just because one is armed with this info, doesnt meant he knows how to use it either. This is where expierence comes into play and like the above poster said, being one step ahead of the other bettors.

I don't think I could do this day in and day all by myself. I read as much as I can, on the forums and about the teams, quotes from players and coaches, tidbits and notes from other posters.

I take in everything from all the sources I have access to while keeping the daily card in my head mentally narrowing down games that I find a reason to NOT bet either on or against.

Sometimes the game I like most is one of the late west coast games. But if I am ahead on the day I will lay off of it and take a days pay with the earlier wins.

I think watching games is very important to capture the emotion of a certain team and its players. Having played a lot of baseball growing up I try to imagine myself as a teammate of the game I am watching. I want to know how a team celebrates. I want to know how they pick each other up after a bad call or an error or strikeout.

People often talk about a team that they think will not play well on a given day. Anybody that has ever stepped into the batters box will know that, that is the reason for playing baseball. Every major league hitter loves to hit. I can never recall an at bat that I said I am not going to try to get a hit or have a productive at bat. When you face a pitcher it is a one on one challenge. Now, by watching a lot of games it is possible to see teams that as a whole are not patient at the plate and do not do the little things right.

I try to not fall into the trap of looking at the line to determine a play. I try to first figure out who is going to win. If a $3 Fav is going to win then its time to get creative. Bet the team total or the RL or include it in a 2 team parlay.

I still consider myself a beginner, I still think I have much to learn. Aside from having some lifelong winning bettor to mentor me I can't imagine where I would be today without the information I have learned from places like the RX. I believe I have shaved years off of the learning curve.
