Det. has no reason to play. No real chance to win top spot in West.
SJ finishes up with Col Pho LA........three worst teams in the West. Only need to win one.

Who do they sit, and how will they play this one? Also B2B
Sabres aren't quite done.
Line Buff +105........hahahah.........

Eyeing over???

If SJ only wins one & gets 2 points, the Dead Things cud tie them
with 4 wins & 117 points. They'd also have more wins. What is the
first tiebreaker then, head to head, total wins, conference play?

This is a tough game to cap. The oddsmakers have already factored in the fact that Buffalo has everything to play for, and Detroit almost nothing, so it's really hard to see any value. Obviously, Detroit won't be overly worried about playing a tight game, plus they have the weapons to make this an offensive game. Conversely, Buffalo needs this game so badly, they could go into a defensive shell (relying on Miller) if they pick up/maintain a lead in the 2nd period or afterwards.

Really tough to go either way..... GL

Wing backers must have all their hair pulled out by now tying to figure out their psyche at this stage of the game. It will be a tough one to cap. With saying that, Babcock told the team before yesterdays game it was time to quit fucking around now start treating the games with a sence of urgency. They responded with a 44 shot effort and Dominated the Wild yesterday afternoon. The score didn't tell the story of that game. No Osgood didn't look superb but the offense was operating on all cylinders. In their last meeting only Ryan Miller kept the score from getting beyond the 3-1 final. The Red Wings rolled up a 48-22 shot advantage in Joe Louis Arena, and Miller defended most of the jabs with 45 saves.
This is a situation where we have a team struggling to make the playoffs vs a team with nothing to play for. Ordinarily I think the Sabres would be the play, but because Detroit needs to get back on the winning track, and all the pressure will be on the Sabres, I think this ones different. They held Vanek to one SOG last time they met. And Rafalski is due back tonight so he pairs with Lidstrom and will be against the Sabres big line all night long neutralizing them I believe. When are you going to find the Wing at $-104 against a bubble team this close to playoff time.
I think Detroits the play tonight.

cut and pasted:

The Sabres have won just two of their last 17 games against the Red Wings, including only once in the past seven games at home since the 1996-97 season. Buffalo already lost at Detroit 3-1 on Jan. 10.

Given that the Wings all but quashed the Minnesota Wild's playoff hopes via Sunday's 3-1 win, they clearly plan on doing the same to Buffalo tonight.

Sabre's throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Detroit but Osgood is slamming the door like a scorned woman does after catching her man cheating.
