Take a night off? Are you watching these games or just looking at the final score. How many posts did they hit? Would you say MacDonald stood on his head against his former team?

I guess we can agree that it wasn't the most desperate effort by Detroit but couldn't that have been predicted against the #30 team in the league?

They certainly didn't take the night off.

As Wolf observes, your post sounds more like someone that just lost some money on a three dollar + favorite than a impartial observer.

I think your really bang on with your analysis of that game Vic. Winning in the NHL requires the talent... preparation and your team "wanting" that puck more than the other team does. I believe Detroit went into that game thinking they were the best playing the worst team at home and their talent and home town fans would will them to victory. And before they realized this they were approaching the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period and by that time the Islanders had gathered enough momentum and confidence to finish the job. Do i think they come out Sunday afternoon and give a completely different effort? You bet your ass.

I didn't see any kind of sustained pressure by the Islanders all evening. Detroit was just flat out out hustled last night.

Detroit opens as -305 fav against a team fighting for a playoff spot. Lots of luck with that.

Thanks Vic, usually i lay the half-puck to cut down the juice. Plus, if the Wings are that good they should handle the Predators easily, right.

I did not watch any of it so yes I am the box score checker in this one after it was already final. NHL wagering just very frustrating as seen by my awesome capping contest record. GL to everyone!

the last time they played was 2005. the score was 2 to 1. funny how history can repeat itself. different players, different coaches..same results.
i get pissed off just like the rest of us here. i expected detriot to win this game. after the way they poured it on and slapped the oilers into reality, i figured they'd come home and hit at least 4 goals or win by 2.

that's sports..too many games in the year to bust your ass all out(give kudos to mcdonald..wings still had 42 shots). and doesn't everyone want to beat the champions. i shit on them yesterday, but i'll be on them tomorrow either team total, 1st 60 minutes or by 2 goals. 50 wins in a season 4 years in a row....it's gonna happen at joe louis tomorrow. i just hope it isn't extra time.

The analysis is simple. Over an 82 game regular season its coin flip action trying to predict NHL winners consistently. Which team will show up when? Which goalie will show up when? Figured this out a while ago and stopped betting it and have had lots of extra cash in my pocket since.

Yea. That WAS awful depressing. All I can say is I hope and expect their intensity level to go up ten fold come playoff time.
