Any tec gurus here know how i can disable a few programs from loading on windows startup. There used to be a utility allowing you to do that somewhere in windows system tools in previous windows versions, can't find anything in this one.

thanks.

Jack.

Go to RUN, type in msconfig.Click the Startup tab, and uncheck what you don't want to start up.

Be careful what you uncheck.

Actually, you could uncheck almost everything from the startup menu and Windows would still load and function, but some things may be needed to use certain programs or run certain hardware efficiently.

My advice if you don't know what a process does is to Go to this site and check and see what the process does. If it isn't listed on that site, go to Google and type in the full name and browse the results.

cheers ballgame, will do that man, plenty of stuff that one can easily figure out what their function is, like windows auto update (man, did i want to get rid of that bastard ms function) but a lot there that i got no idea what their use is, so this site should be of some help.

thanks again.
