His punishment should have been the same video or no video release. All that video showed was what any intelligent person would have expected it to show. He wasn't dragging her out of the elevator because he gently slapped her on the shoulder. Your boy Roger is hiding behind the video and it's pathetic. He should've suspended him for longer than 2 games from the start.

I said the video release shouldn't have had any bearing on the suspension and you said it should because he lied. That's how it all started, buddy. There was nothing new learned, he's guilty of domestic assault and his case is in the hands of the court. The NFL and Ravens made their call. They knew he carried her limp body out of the elevator, what the fuck did they think happened in the elevator before they saw the video? She slipped and fell?
She married the man, and I don't think there is a history of violence. If there was, there would be physical evidence of such and she would not have provoked him in the elevator. My understanding is that such victims do their best to pacify their abuser. (please don't read that as me saying she provoked him, I'm trying to define a typical vs atypical behavior pattern for assault victims)
most importantly, she's a victim again. Right now, the league's actions have ruined her life more so than that one punch did
What Ray Rice did was despicable. If it's a one and only occurrence, he should be forgiven and allowed to resume his career. If it's a pattern or if it occurs again, she should leave him and the justice system should put him behind bars, the NFL won't have to do a thing.

I'm going to guess Ray Rice told the commissioner and the Ravens the same thing, as I would assume the league and the team were in constant communication on this.
If you can buy the NFL's BS good for you. It's just hard for me to believe the following:
a) A "smart guy" like Roger could see the video of Janay Rice being dragged from the elevator and believe anything happened other than what we saw on the video.
b) The NFL was unable to get a copy of this video before TMZ did. (They didn't even ask Revel for a copy)
c) Mort and other NFL reporters had sources that saw the video back in July but the NFL couldn't get a peek until TMZ released it.
d) Ray and Janay lied to the Ravens/NFL in such a convincing manner that they believed a 212 lb NFL RB needed to knock out his 125 lb wife to "defend himself".
