I really think the juice affects only sharp players - the average schmuck recreational gamblers has no clue how important numbers, reduced juice and money management are - these players are going to lose no matter what juice they have (even +125) - I don't care if they win 10 dimes in the first month - they will double there bets the next month and lose it all plus anotehr 10 dimes - most players lose because of greed and poor money management, i.e., betting 20% of their bank on one game or doubling their bets if they win or betting all the TV games - most players never get into a long term grind where reduced juice would really help you to tread water. Reduced juice only helps players that are trying to win slightly more games than they lose and who are willing to bet a very small percentage of a decent size bankroll. The average football bettor wants to bet 200 a game on a 1000 bankroll - give him +120 on all plays - you know what happens - he's out after a month and is looking to get another dime to send down.
Now, giving +100 to a very select style of gamblers would be a real thorn in your ass - you'd just have to make sure you don't get too many of these guys. Now Pinnacle clearly has the sharpest numbers out there - I would imagine whatever side they are shading the game towards wins near 53% of time - this helps them because generally, the sophisticated bettor is not getting a great line which is another factor in winning long term.
Anyways, the right books could use -102 and win if done right - a book taking pure square action action could win at +100, i.e., my friend takes action and these idiots call in and ask him what side he likes - as in, they are placing a bet and are not sure what side to bet when they are calling in - their chance of winning over an extened period does not even register - it is ZERO and always will be ZERO even at +125.
