They already have a vaccine for cervical cancer. I don't really get how they can not expand from there and come up with vaccines for other cancers.

I love it when wolfie bites the hook... so predictable... yes post graph JUST because Wikipedia says so, when ANYONE can edit an article. Simpleton Joe is so happy with big brother, just shhh and bleat for me.

go ahead and edit the article if you dont like it, it will soon be removed as there are editors that read the articles, in addition to this , with the fast growth of knowlege I trust this more than an encyclopedia simply because it evolves instead of being something printed that sits in a room

now tell me, what other crazy conspiracy or lunatic theory you are into, all the doctors are trying to kill us, what else? apollo is a hoax? 9/11 inside job? the thing that creates earthquakes? ancient aliens on history channel? :ohno:

because as I mentioned, not all cancers are the same thing, this one in particular comes from a virus.

lung cancer seems to be more like chronic irritation /exposure to chemicals

now suppose they come up with a vaccine for ALL cancers......first it would be expensive I suppose, second there would be the % of effectiveness which wont be 100% as no vaccine offers that anyway , third a lot of people wont take it just as many people dont want ANY vaccine these days......

best 'vaccine' for now is try to eat healthy

cancer is not a solitary disease
there are many types and they are all vastly different

cure for some? sure. cure for others? not so much.

Those numbers are not accurate.. Very misleading numbers..

Someone dies from lung cancer they ask "were they a smoker", then they automatically put them in that statistic. Many MANY people get lung cancer who have never even touched a cigarette.

yeah but the histopathology is completely different

the ones who have never touched a cig are female and adenocarcinomas or people who get mesothelioma from asbestos exposure

the vast majority of SCC are 2/2 smoking

My point with stating that they already have a vaccine for cervical cancer is simple. If you know anything about theories or equations or what-not you understand that they now have a basis for how to prevent cancer. To say the percentage would not be 100 is a weak argument. The polio vaccine changed life for those people back then. Rather it was 100 percent or not.

All you need is a basis or theory that works and the minds to plug in different numbers to the equation. They obviously have a basis or theory that worked to stabilize the cells in this one case.

I've always been worried that many don't wanna find a cure. Too much money to be lost in treatment. If medication is developed that cured cancer....billions lost. Hope thats not the case...but i wonder after seeing 5 family members die of cancer is last 7 years.

I've said this in other Threads about Cancer.... My 100% opinion is the Cure is Out there, and the Gov. holds it back for the same reasons above.

They wouldn't withhold a cure for monetary reasons. They came up with a vaccine for polio so it's not the money. Besides, with the way these drug companies compete, if one company didn't come up with a cure/vaccine, another company would bring one out.

A few years ago I lost my very best friend to lung cancer that matastethized to his hip. He had a lump in his lungs the size of a softball and they couldn't operate. He had already beaten skin, bladder and prostrate cancer when it finally showed up in his lungs. I hate to tell you the pain he went through until his last days on earth. I know if it ever happens to me, I'm going to overdose with some sort of pills and end it my own way.

Yeah right. There are people all over the world independently searching for a cancer cure. They'd all have to be in on it together. I don't buy it. There is the same as the 9/11 conspiracy theories.

I have a very large family and up until 6 months ago no one EVER had cancer in my family. We get parkinsons and lupus and some other diseases such as diabetes (which I have) high blood pressure and cholesterol. Other than that cancer has never even been an after thought among us. My aunt had very bad tooth pain about 6 months ago and a long story short, she now has full blown, stage 4 mouth, jaw, and throat cancer. It is so bad that it has been deemed incurable. She elected to go into hospice and live the rest of her now short life, as pain free as possible with medication and low doses of chemo. She has a feeding tube now and a trach in her throat and will not be with us very much longer. We have accepted this as a family and she also is aware of her fate.... Are we close to a cure for this horrible disease or will it be something that will forever baffle our doctors and scientists?

Really sorry to hear that, Maxx. A very good friend of mine had a brother in law pass away recently from some kind of spinal cancer that doctors believed originated as an oral infection.

So many people put off going to the dentist, but doing so regularly may very well save your life.

As far as the original question, I think anyone who came out with a cure would become one of the richest people on the planet very quickly. It's an extremely complex disease to try to cure or reverse. It really sucks that so much money has been spent and scientists don't seem to be any closer to a cure than they were years ago.

They're not closer? They are but there are too many different types of cancers and each one can have many different causes.
