Boston Chisox Preview:
(Sports Network) - Jon Garland comes back on three days rest looking to give the White Sox their third straight victory in the middle contest of a three- game set against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Garland won his last start against the Kansas City Royals with seven strong innings, allowing three runs. The righthander is 2-2 in four career appearances (three starts) against Boston. He owns a 5.14 ERA against the Red Sox, but a more impressive 3.65 mark in games at Fenway. Aaron Rowand belted two home runs and finished with three hits and four RBI to lead Chicago over Boston, 8-7, in Friday's opener. Ben Davis contributed three RBI for the White Sox, who won for the third time in four games. Jose Contreras (10-5) remained undefeated as a member of the White Sox after allowing four runs in six innings, in which he struck out eight. Tim Wakefield (8-7) suffered the defeat after getting tagged for six runs on six hits and one walk in 6 1/3 innings. Kevin Millar hit his 13th homer and Manny Ramirez his 29th in the loss, which snapped Boston's string of three consecutive victories. The Red Sox counter Saturday with righty Curt Schilling taking the hill. Schilling has struggled through his last four starts, going 1-2 with a 6.49 ERA. In his most recent outing, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays dealt the 37-year-old his first home loss of the season with six runs in five innings. He has made three previous appearances against the White Sox, but this will mark his first start. In seven career innings against Chicago, Schilling owns a 3.86 ERA and one of his 13 lifetime saves. The White Sox hold a slim 12-10 lead in this series since the beginning of the 2001 campaign. This is the first series between the two clubs this year.
