Greg Oden is once again injured. Going back to his being injured in his only year at Ohio State, and a good portion of his time with Portland also being on the disabled list, is it not questionable whether he will ever play enough to develop skills to warrant the gamble of drafting him #1? IMHO, he will never fully develop into a major contributor for any NBA team. Thoughts?

Too early to say.

It appears he is going to be injury prone. One issue I have always had with Oden, is that he does not have an offensive game. He didn't have one at OSU and doesn't have one in the NBA.

you can develop an offensive game. the reason why thabeet is so highly rated because of his size and defense alone. the offensive game will come later.

with oden though he just is too injury prone to stay on the court.

Dwight Howard is 2 years older than Oden and they seem to be on a different career path.

Durant IMO is gonna be another Kobe Bryant

jeez. when guys get hurt so much like this..is it a result of them not being conditioned well enough, not taking care of their bodies the way they should? or is it pure bad luck?

take a look at Yao....his body seems to be a ticking time bomb but they say he is one of the hardest workers in the NBA. I guess he is a little different from others though, most of his injuries seem to be caused from his length and such, always seem to be from the shins down.

Case closed! Sad.

I'm not even concerned about him playing ball again...starting to wonder if he can go grocery shopping without a injury.

i feel bad for the guy. genetics is huge and people here who are healthy really have no idea. i am 33 years old and relatively healthy i would say and i have HORRIBLE knees. i used to ski when i was younger/ bowled/played hoops etc...and just have bad genetics...im 5'10 and thin...ive dislocated both of my knees about 10X between the 2 in the span of 10 years. my kneecap would pop out and i wouldnt even go to the hospital b/c i knew the drill already....i was basically done with physical activity around 25. my friends would horse around and i would run away b/c i knew if one of them slammed into me i could easily do serious damage to my knees. i can relate bc my body (knees) cant hold up, maybe he is in the same boat.

like i said its sad. i hope he recovers but i think his career will forever be plagued by injuries.
