Looks like I'll be seeking a literary agent in the near future for my baseball novel "Under The Lights".

The rough draft has been read by Charlie Maxwell. His response to it was positive and encouraging. Thus I have finally decided to try and market this novel which has been sitting in a drawer for several years with virtually no marketing effort.

If I am successful in finding a publisher, I hope you'll all buy a copy. I believe most of you would find this to be an interesting read.
Sort of starting the marketing campaign right now. There has to be a large demographic of goofball sports fanatics somewhere I think.

The book does still need quite a bit of grammar cleanup and some fine tuning. I will begin that task full time as soon as I receive the rough draft back from Charlie along with his comments. I'm sure I can get it done rather quickly.

So thanks again Charlie. If this thing ever sees the light of day it will be because of your kind words along with your help and encouragement.

Mrs. Jones and I are planning a trip to Vegas no later than February or March. Looking into staying at the Stardust or Harrahs. So we hope to be meeting with you soon Charlie.

Mr. Jones,

Glad to hear you are going to try and get that story published. I sent the rough draft back to you quite some time ago in the large envelope you provided, so you should have it by now.

Good luck in this endeavor and will look forward to meeting you on your next trip to Vegas.

Thanks guys and Charlie,

Haven't got it yet Charlie. I did use the slowest and cheapest mail back option on the return. Hopefully I put the right address on it. Should get here in due time I suppose. Not gonna worry yet. Really looking forward to getting to work on it again.

Fish, maybe if I have to I can just self publish. Maybe with some financial help from you. But listen man I've got the perfect marketing plan. We get a bunch of them and send everyone an autographed copy as a guarantee if my GOY for $29.95 doesn't come in. [$19.95 for RX members] Damn thing would be a best seller for sure.

But wait if you order the GOY by credit card right now you also get win or lose, "Ex-Pro Baseball Player Admits to Gambling on Baseball But This Guy Wins And Shows You How" by Mr. "HitMan" Jones.

Now if I win the GA/Royal NBA contest it would surely give me national notoriety as a capper in another sport as well. Kind of like winning the Hilton contest.

Then I suppose I can start the Mr. "HitMan" Jones' BetorBook Club and give all of this good stuff away for next to nothing. EitherwayyouwinandsodoI.com

All I can add is that Mrs. Jones better bring home some more bourbon cause I'm gonna start on that second book right now. Well they'll think its a book but its only gonna be about a page ot two. Never said it was a book.

Fish, well since you asked and I'm in a writing mood here goes. Great last four days of the year. Terrible first four days of the year. Talking like over dime won and over dime lost. You know my usual bet amounts so that kind of swing is very unusual indeed. The whole downward spiral was started by your your corn farmers. We don't bet no corn farmers here at the Swamp. We do like the Pack though.

PanAm didn't help when I couldn't get a big 2nd halfer in on LSU. Plain and simple would not except my bet. 6 times I tried and 6 times I couldn't confirm. By the time I got to another out it was too late. Made for a terrible evening since I didn't play a game bet and was waiting for the 2nd half. With my NBA plays going down, I got to watch this game with no action on it. Terrible!!! Disgusting!!! Pulled out of PanAm the next day. Forget what I had told you about PanAm.

Last night was 4-1 on the NBA so it's turning as it always does and now I'm slightly up since Christmas day. But just slightly. Overall the last three months have been kind to me. And yourself good sir?

BTW Fish, If you didn't lose your lady at the 6:00 AM tailgate torture for her, Mrs. Jones and I would like to invite you two and her daughter over for dinner some weekday night soon. Serious offer here. Although there is only one computer hooked up at this time, we still have the cheap Don Best, 7 TV's [had 8 but gave one away at Christmas], 5 cable boxes and both baskets packages. Our living room was once a church sanctuary [no it really doesn't help] and its easy to get lost in it. Mrs. Jones was a professional interior decorator and would like you guys to see her work.

So let us know if you are interested in spending an evening with us. Mrs. Jones is a great cook. Oh yeah, your welcome even if your lifestyle has cost you another woman.

Sounds like a plan sir.

Thanks for the fine offer.

We are thinking of taking a canoe trip up in your neck of the woods very soon, thus maybe afterwards we will make a visit to the Joneses.

You sound like me, I ended the year in fabulous fashion, but have certainly not hit my stride thus far in 2004.

What a grind.

But we love it!!
