Eddie Collins was really a dead ball era player who was the mainstay of what was referred to in the early part of the 1910's as The Philadelphia A's $100,000 infield (he played 2nd base). That A's team managed by the legendary Connie Mack won four AL Pennants and 3 World Series between 1910 and 1914. Collins was voted the AL MVP in 1914.

He broke into the Majors in September of 1906 and retired in August of 1930. Collins split his career between the Philadelphia A's and the Chicago White Sox.

He was also a member of the 1917 World Champion Chicago White Sox.
Collins was player manager of the White Sox for three years 1924 tru 1926. 336 games 174 wins 160 losses .521 win %.
Collins was a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox but even though he had a poor series (he hit .226 with 6 singles and a double) he was not implicated with the players who allegedly threw the World Series.
Eddie Collins died on March 25th 1951 in Boston Mass at the age of 63.
