Why not....I'll post some thoughts over here after just stumbling across the site a few weeks back. I'll be the first to tell you that I did not have a great regular season but this is a new season, new year and there is plenty of cash to be made yet.
FALCONS EVEN >>> 1 UNIT
Normally I am a huge fan of home dogs/teams especially in the playoffs but I just can't back this Zona team that has been spiralling downward for a month now. Sure you can argue that they had nothing to play for down the stretch yada, yada, yada...but had they went 4-2 or even 3-3 and beat Minnesota they very well could've been the 3 seed and caught the Iggles...maybe a tougher matchup but regardless my point is that this team stunk the last 6 weeks of the season and certainly pissed away a good shot at the 3 seed.
Over there final 9 games of the season they went 5-4 but those 5 wins came at the expense of the Rams (twice) the Seabags (twice) and the Niners...all divisional foes and shitty ones at that. Those 3 teams combined to go 13-35  There 4 losses were to 3 playoff teams and the Pats that had a playoff caliber record at 11-5...not only did they lose to the tournament teams +1 they got drilled to the tune of 167-70...that's an average of 42-18... come on now....this team is only in the playoffs because they play in the league's worst division bar none.
Now I understand any team can win on any week, especially in the playoffs but I want my money on a team that deserves to be there rather than a team benefitting from there division assignment. The HFA that many teams have such as PITT, KC, GB (when the latter 2 were good) etc, etc will not be anywhere near a factor that those teams had....for crying out loud there were 3500+ tickets available with a possible blackout looming just this week.
As I pointed out the Cards come limping into the playoffs whereas the Falcons come in winning 3 straight and 5 of 6 including big wins vs playoff bound Carolina, SD, Minny and a Tampa team that just missed out after a late season meltdown. This team has won in shootouts (45-28 vs CAR) and defensive battles (13-10 vs TB & 22-16 at SD) showing that they can win any type of game on any field.
I hear alot of people being scared off of a rookie QB making his first playoff start, on the road. I've been there, I've been that guy but this kid is really special IMO and an offensive ROY award may just be that little more confidence to help him stay focused and poised for what will be his biggest game of his career thus far. It's not like he has to do it all by himself as he has Turner the Burner in the backfield who was 2nd in the league in both TD's and rushing yards to help balance out the attack...
And when he does drop back to toss the pigskin he'll be doing so against the league's worst pass DEF in regards to TD's through the air...Zona allowed a whopping 36, that's 9 more than the Pats allowed. They allowed opposing QB's a passer rating of 96.9, only better than the Bronco's and the mighty Lions
Toss in the fact that Zona has very little running game, a QB that tosses the ball around like Brett Favre (not a great thing anymore) and I see the Falcons controlling the TOP and winning in the trenches.
Will most likely play another unit or two on ATL but will wait to see if this line will be driven any higher...
Falcons 31-17
