Why would they Schedule Game 7 of the Spurs/Clippers same night as the Pac/Mayweather fight?

I know they probably had the schedules set in advance, but they had months to prepare for this and make changes so that they don't overlap. Ridiculous move by the NBA. And yes, I know you can record them but I hate watching recorded games. This is going to be very difficult because the 4th quarter is going to be overlapping the actual fight. Bummer

It's a way to keep the riots down. Half of the rioters will be in LA. Half in Vegas. We put them all in 1 place. Bad things happen. Imagine if this Mayweather thing goes up in flames. My God.

I really don't get the big news of this fight. I don't know shit about boxing but am hoping Mayweather doesn't show up.

Um, the NBA does not care that there is a boxing match on Saturday.

This thread makes no sense at all.

maybe we can bank on it being a blowout by the 4th quarter... none of us want that in this serious, but things have a way of working themselves out.. It either ends without much hack a jordan (meaning clips lead whole way) or the game is one sided affair and people dont need to watch the waning seconds prior to fight.

Ahhh, yea... hopefully. Apparently they aren't starting it until 12 est... so they have a decent cushion. I was reading it started at 11 eastern... which would have put the start right at the end of the game.

But it's hilarious this Ace dude is talking about why would the NBA care when the fighters actually announced their decision at the NBA All-Star game and the NBA has been promoting the fight all week. You can even go to NBA.com and one of their cover stories is an interview with Mayweather. Pretty dumb comment but not surprised coming from that individual.

Apparently, the last time this happened, the boxers agreed to not start the fight until the game officially ended...

"According to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com (via ProBasketballTalk), the boxer found a way to get around the conflict, and fight promoter Bob Arum stepped in to make sure the main event does not start until the final buzzer sounds on the Celtics’ Game 7 Eastern Conference finals contest. The Celtics-Heat game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET, while the undercard to Pacquiao’s fight begins at 9.

“Now Manny, the Heat, the Celtics and sports fans watching the basketball game won’t have to make a choice between events,” Arum said in a statement. “They will be able to watch both.”
Celtics coach Doc Rivers was happy to hear that Pacquiao, one of the biggest draws in boxing, will cheer on his team as it takes on LeBron James and the Miami Heat in an elimination game.
“He’s a Celtics fan. What do you expect?” Rivers said. “Pretty cool, though. That’s cool.”"

Please provide proof of this. Thanks.

You need proof that the NBA cares about not scheduling a game 7 with the fight they've been promoting all week? Are you guys like dead serious with these comments or just trolling me? You can go to NBA.com and one of it's main videos is an interview with Mayweather about the fight. Come on now Scott, I expect this from Ace but you? Slippin

What proof are you talking about? A signed contract between them? Ridiculous question.
Personally I don't think they do. Key word being "think". Why do I think that? They would have probably changed the time of the fight. That's just my opinion.

you said "they care quite a bit." That sounds like you know for a fact they care. Quite a bit actually. Since I don't believe you are correct, I was asking if you have proof is all. Has nothing to do with global warming. Simple question.

Now that I learned the fight starts at 12 est instead of 11est... it's pretty clear to me the NBA figured this out. But to even ask why the NBA would care about scheduling their event during another event that can take a large share of their viewers... that's a really dumb question.

And the last time a game 7 conflicted with a fight, the fighters agreed to not start fighting until the game was officially over. Yea, I'm sure the NBA does not care, lol.
