and the points are statistically irrelevant, the 2.5 won't matter.
Turnovers, the Pats are a better team with respect to turnover margin, the single most important stat in football. Brady throws fewer picks than Manning, both during this season and over their careers. The RB most likely to fumble would be Jacobs, who was just a tad bit lucky he "didn't fumble" against SF . The Giants can win the TO battle, but the Patriots are better at it.
QB, Brady is better than Manning, both this year and over their careers. He is something like 27-3 following a loss. That's an indication of how he plays when he has chip on his shoulder or something to prove, he elevates his game. His career won loss blows Eli away, 78% to 58%. Stated differently, Eli lost 50 games vs Brady's 35 while playing 40 fewer games. Eli is an impressive 7-3 in the post season, not as good as Brady's 16-5. Eli is a very good QB and is obviously very capable of winning this game, Brady's just better.
Defense, one of the silliest arguments you hear on a daily basis is that the Pats defense is the worst in the league!!! really? based on total yardage allowed!!! is that how cappers cap? what a joke that is. When you consider how the defense performs in the red zone, how many turnovers they create and how many points they allow, the Pats were better than the Giants this year. If you need to keep it simple, what do you think is worse? Giving up more points or more yards? well the Giants gave up more points. People are giving far too much weight to that great defense vs bad defense argument. It's just not there
Giant's defensive line, besides Eli and the WR, the strength of the team. But the Pats offensive lines is one of the best in football, and two of them were Pro Bowlers. What's also overlooked is the fact that Pats have two defensive linemen on the Pro Bowl rosters as well, they're no so bad.
Receivers, both sets of receivers will provide match-up problems for the other team. That's a draw, not a huge advantage for the Giants as many seem to think. Cruz & Nicks and Manningham are very good, but no better than Welker, Gronk, Hernandez, Branch & Co.
The edge, in 2008 the Giants had no chance, this tends to give a team the emotional and preparation and focus edge, also lets them play relaxed. In 2012, despite being favorites, the Pats are receiving far less respect. From gamblers to the internet, to ESPN to everywhere you look, the wrong team is favored. That's the type of stuff athletes use to find an edge for themselves, and nobody is better at that game than Brady
the Giants can win, but I think the Pats win, and the points won't matter.
