Why the Phillies SHOULD win today

Search
1. Milton has really been our best pitcher to start the season and only Gonzo has had success against him and it was awhile ago.

2. Burrell and Abreu have both had some success against Webb both with HR's in a very limited number of at-bats.

3. Thome rested yesterday so I like my chances for him to drive one with the wind blowing out 9-14 mph.

4. It's a getaway day for the DBacks who go to Chicago to play tomorrow while the Phils stay at home and welcome Traitor Rolen and the Cards.

I'm seeing around -110 for Milton and I can't see not playing this one. As long as the Fightin's don't blow it with bad managerial moves (SIGH) they SHOULD win today. I'm on them!

Good luck today.

Thanks G....I should add this one is about as square as they come. The line has moved to close to -120 in some spots.

Good luck today

That's a tough one. You would expect with the wind out a bit and the temp around 75 degrees today the ball SHOULD fly out of Citizens Bank. Both of these pitchers are capable of keeping the opposition from scoring though. Webb has looked good to start the year for these guys. But on a day like today 8 seems low.

Sorry no opinion there five...but if the Phils have the success they have had against Webb before they could go over 8 themselves.

Good luck today.

FWIW Milton struck out Gonzo on 3 pitches to end the first which is a good sign. Gonzo going in 4 for 6 lifetime against Milt. As long as Eric keeps the pitch count down we'll be ok.

Stay tuned...long way to go!

Through 3 innings update:

Webb looks strong which is a bad sign for the Phils. After I complimented Milton on the K of Gonzo the following inning he got behind 3-0 on Finley and then left a 3-1 pitch over the heart of the plate which Finley promptly put out of the ballpark. DOH!

1-0 DBacks...and Bowa decided to keep Leiberthal and Burrell out of the lineup (UGH).

Let's go PHILS!

PHillies cant score...

And now Bowa takes out Burrell and Lieberthal from lineup?

Does this guy want to get fired?

This team is horrid.

Cap I agree...Burrell has hit Webb before and hard and Lieberthal usually hits the sinker ball pitchers. I don't get this at all...Bowa you dummy!

Bowa is a guy who thinks he is ABOVE the game.

I dont know what Phillies front office sees in him?

-MC

They love him because he did a lot for the team as a player and they tried to do a 180 from Francona (who was worse than Bowa unfortunately). Bowa's never done really well as a Manager and I think Wade is too afraid to light a fire under him. I mean it's not like anyone in that organization intimidates Bowa. He pretty much can do what he wants. Too bad his managerial instincts are killing this team.

Many things killing this team..

1. manager
2. byrd/rollis
3. abreu - one week good / 3 weeks terrible
4. catchers
5. marlins

4-0 DBacks

1. YES
2. I'm ok with them because they're young
3. He has a pretty solid upside when he's on though.
4. Lieberthal isn't bad. Pratt is more there for clubhouse chemistry than anything else.
5. YES

This will be the last time I back the Phillies for the rest of the year..They just plain suck. This was supposed to be their year in the NL East and they are going to finish behind Atlanta and FLorida once again.

Can the Phils give up 4 more runs so I can push on my over bet.

They do suck...2 words that I need to care about more:

SQUARE and SHOULD (both applied to this game)

"As long as the Fightin's don't blow it with bad managerial moves" (Burrell and Lieberthal both scratched from the lineup? DOH)

Of course they still have 9 outs to get back in it but they have to generate more than 2 hits against a guy like Webb.

I'm not complaining that you posted the Phils..I was playing them anyway. They just seem to always have these 2 hit games when I back them. Rollins and Byrd can never get on base or get the big hit when it matters. Maybe Zona will bring Mantei in he has been getting hit hard last few outings.

I hear you Drunkn I am very frustrated watching this team so far this season. Phillies 2-7 when they don't hit a HR (soon to be 2-8 the way they're going).

It would be nice to see them manufacture some runs rather than just go up there every game and rely on the HR. These are the kinds of games this team needs to figure out how to win if they want to be competitive with Florida and Atlanta.

Don't blame Rollins he has 2 of the 3 hits in this game for the Phils. It's the rest of this lineup that has been pitiful.

TOMAS! 2 run HR in the 7th! Webb being removed from the game...come on boys let's GO!
