When I woke up and went to do my research, the first thing I did was look to the starting pitchers. As I turned on the computer, I said to myself "I hope Schilling is going today, it'll be easy then".

Schilling's career against the Blue Jays
13 G, 9 GS, 2-6, CG, 5.25 ERA, .300 Opposing Average

Let's go deeper in to that
Last season: 1-2, 5.00 ERA, .306 Opposing Average
April 11th, 2004: 8 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, No Decision
April 22nd, 2004: 7.2 IP, 13 H, 7 ER, Loss
May 13th, 2004: 5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, Loss
August 25th, 2004: 6.1 IP, 7 H, ER, Win

Today's probable starting lineup for the Jays:
LF Frank Catalanatto: 5-11, 2 2B, 2 RBI
2B Orlando Hudson: 5-12, 2B, 3B, .417 AVG
CF Vernon Wells: 4-10, 2B, HR, RBI
3B Corey Koskie: 0-3
DH Shea Hillenbrand: 1-3
1B Eric Hinske: 3-12, HR, 3 RBI
RF Alex Rios: 2-3, 2B
C Gregg Zaun: 3-11, HR, 2 RBI
SS Russ Adams: Never Faced Him

Next up, the Jay's pitcher, young phenom, David Bush.

He may be 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA (lower than Curt's) but he's only given up 5 runs through 2 games and holds an opposing average of .220! He got the loss against Boston on the 8th of this month as he gave up 3 runs in 5 innings of work and was pulled due to his pitch count. The Red Sox hit .235 againbst him and I don't see it increasing.

Schilling will go 7 innings, give up 5-6 runs, Bush will go 6 innings giving up 2 runs as the Jays cruise to victory on Marathon Day 6-4 and cash in that whopping +200!

I must agree in that there is no support in taking Schilling in this game......other than he is due, he is who he is, they are at home, and well it looks like the smart pick

BUT TO SEE THE BLUE JAYS CRUSH HIM.........I would not be surprised. The lines stink on everything....too high at 200 run line -1.5 -115 no bargain there, and even the 5 inning line -1/2 -145......no value there as well

With all that being said........Maybe they come through for him today, or he pitches better!!!! High price that is all I can say gl NEWPORT

Yep you guys are all correct. Schilling at this price holds no value. Jays are capable of beating the Sox today therefore there is your value +180.

However just knowing that they are at home with the final at bat has me turning over this one. I'm waiting to see if any line movement occurs.

Yeah that is great. That's the type of bet where after the result is known you can still be happy knowing the risk vs payoff ratio was in your favor. vs throwing big chalk and sweating through your ball sack for 9innings.

Frambush,
I am sort of a newbie at baseball, do you mind telling me what you are using for matchup analysis/data? I am looking for a somewhat comprehensive site for game data and it looks like you have some great info. I know there are lots of sites out there, just curious as to you what you use if you don't mind. If you would rather not say, no problem. Thanks in advance.

Is it too late to bet the Blue Jays? There is still great value on the interactives.
