Why TCU is the most overrated squad

This is a pretty decent article on the Big 12. I can't really disagree with anything they say. If Baylor can overcome their inexperienced QB situation I think they are in the drivers seat for their third conference title in a row. As for TCU, I heard a coach once say that for every freshman you start on your team you can expect 1 loss. Of course he may have been over exaggerating a little, but the fact is TCU lost 6 stud defenders off of last season's team, and they will be replacing them with freshman and sophomores. TCU has some inexperience at linebacker and secondary and teams may score some points early season on them. The question I would pose...can the opponent outscore TCU's offense. Looking at the Frogs schedule...I don't think so.

TCU's point production went way down last season when they left home and played their only 2 games outside of the state of Texas... This year they'll have to deal with 5 games outside of their state. A big difference when your playing a round robin schedule...

You have 10 players back on an offense that averaged 46.5 ppg last year. For their five road games they averaged 45.4 and then hung 42 on a good Ole Miss defense. The QB set eight school records last year

I agree the defense will have to grow up but I don't see any of their opponents who will scare anyone with their defense. I like this TCU team...especially the coach leading them. Just my take...........

The biggest reason they were able to average 46 ppg is because their defense was able to get off the field. So we'll see just how good Patterson is this year. But my guess is there's going to be some rookie mistakes made, especially in the early going...

I had TCU as the 11th best offense and 13th best defense last year -- pretty balanced. Baylor I had as 10th on offense and 27th on defense. Yet it is Baylor getting more love, it seems. I don't have Baylor winning the Big12 this year. There's going to be some sweet B12 games in the final month, really something to look forward to.

Meanwhile they were an eyebrow hair from having 2 teams in the final four, and this has been with their 2 juggernauts down and out. If OU and UT can pull their heads outta their asses the BIG XII can easily be right there with the SEC for toughest conference in the country. And once again, the payouts in the BIG XII are damned good too. Remember, that's what this all boils down to. So DeLoss was right when staying with 10 teams. Everyone gets R-I-C-H!!!

Art Briles did a pretty good interview with Finebaum the other day. I'll see if I can find it. Like most coaches in the Big 12 he would like to have those extra two teams. But he also said that they need to be quality teams or else the conference won't be able to keep the sweet money split they are reaping right now. Getting a team in the playoffs will probably cure some of the problem. So this is a huge year for the conference. JB, money doesn't do you any good if you start losing your power structure as a conference and are left with a bunch of mid majors. Stop being a Texas honk and pretending like we didn't get hurt by the departures of Nebraska, Mizzou and A$M.

Go is still smarting over that 55-19 Arse Kicking that USC out on Oklahoma for the NC. I could easily do the same to him, but why pick on an Okie? He really is not worth talking about. The article he posted is.

Having said that, I think that the people who make up a lot of the Big 12 bandwagon may be having second thoughts about TCU because they actually have to play a somewhat decent non-con team on the road, that being Minnesota. So I see a whole lot of tail covering here with some of these statements. Baylor is an easy choice because they play such a soft pu**y non-con schedule that they cannot possibly lose one of those games. TCU should be able to win all of their away Conference games until 11/21, when they go to Norman to play Oklahoma. Baylor goes to K-State on a Thursday Night (11/5) and we all know how tricky those games can be. Then Baylor hosts OU on the 14th, goes to Okie State on the 21st, and to TCU on the 27th. That is certainly about as tough (or as easy) a schedule as the one TCU has. I think it still comes down to the Baylor-TCU game, and Baylor is 1-6 ATS against TCU in their last 7 meetings. I think I know where my money will be on that game, if I decide to wager on it. The early money has TCU -6. That seems to be about right. By time TCU gets to the meat of their schedule, their Defense should jell. I will still go with TCU winning the Conference, but like just about every other conference around, nothing would surprise me.

Spoken like a True Texas homer. Let me fill you in. First, as long as Patterson and Strong are running the Texas football program, they will NEVER win the Big 12 Championship, whether the Big 12 sticks to 10 teams or does the right thing and expands to 12. Texas is a 6-6 type of team. The players are not going to buy into the "My way or the Highway" attitude that Strong has. Calling Texas a "Juggernaut" is as stupid as it gets. OU is in much better shape than Texas and I do not see a lot of people picking them to win the Big 12-2. Texas could not win 6 games in the SEC or the Pac 12.

Next. Baylor and TCU are going to have to stop scheduling the pu**ies that they do for non-con games. Art Briles said that if Baylor runs the table, they are in the Playoffs. Guess what idiot. If the CC's from all 5 Conferences run the table, Baylor is OUT again. Until the Big 12 man's up and get's two more teams into the fold, they are always going to be odd man out of the playoffs, all things being equal. That is because 13-0 is better than 12-0. I do not want to hear about this "quality team" B.S. The Pac 12 took Utah (a decent team) and Colorado (a terrible team from the Big 12 no less) and is flourishing. There are some decent teams out there (even disregarding BYU, who could beat the majority of Big 12 teams today). Cincinnati bridges the gap between West Virginia and the rest of the conference. UCF gives the conference a team in Florida. Memphis is another possibility. Have you ever been to Beale Street? A great place to party and listen to great Blues music. So there are good options out there.

Texas is just chicken s**t about expanding. All they care about is money, which is going to dry up a lot faster than Texas homers think when the Longhorn Network folds. Texas used to get it's way about everything in the Big 12. Finally teams like Colorado, Nebraska, and A&M told Texas and the Big 12 to shove it where the sun don't shine. Now the Big 12 is paying dearly for their stupidity. Go is right about this.

Last year, every time they lost a starter, the replacement stepped up and played better. They lost their top RB, only to replace him with 2 better and faster backs. Same at WR. They are going to outscore teams early because that's where they have talent and depth, and it will allow their defense to grow and get some experience. They'll get enough stops defensively, IMO. If Boykin and crew stay healthy, who in the B12 can/will stop them. No one can matchup with them offensively. The other thing to remember is that HC Patterson is recruiting B12 level talent now, not the MWC talent and they are getting deeper.

OSU could surprise. But with the Pokes it's all about finding a running game. They were terrible last year running the ball. If they don't have significant improvement in that area this year they'll have a losing record against Baylor, TCU and OU. Without a running game TCU will just outscore them.
