LOL. I am really curious about this, anyone have any guesses? Even when I was angry at the sites and bashed the places I visited I always admitted I enjoyed the sites. I usually was upset with a decision and complained about it. My point is I always wanted to stay. I liked the contests, I like keeping updated on the books, I liked the other posters and so on. I hear all over the internet posters visiting sites saying how miserable it made them to be there. Why are you at that site to begin with then? Even here I can write the first few sentences of some of these guys posts about how much they hate the place, have no respect for employees, hate the other squares here etc.... Bottom line if someone does not like a site GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! LOL. I don't know how hard that is to understand. We love to have as many as we can here but I am finding out some posters take great pride in being unhappy and making everyone else unhappy. Usually it is less than a handful that will create more problems than the rest combined. I guess like most I want to "save" everyone but the reality is not everyone will be happy here, is it fair to let them make the rest of us miserable? Here are the reasons I think most stay at a place they swear they hate to be at:
- Agenda. Could be a lot of things. You may work for another site and it is in your best interest to bash the one you are at. You may be doing it to win favor by the owner of another site. The old I know what you want to hear so I will go over and say it if you will like me trick, LOL. Heck you may be getting paid to bash the place. Could be a million reasons but mostly you are trying to make the site look bad for one reason or another....
- Rebellion. I think a lot fall under this one. As kids we are taught it is cool to challenge authority. No one would watch Beaver these days but Bart Simpson was cool as hell. To this crowd the common theme is they have no real issue other than to be against everyone else. "Everyone look at me I am raising hell over here". Usually this comes from younger posters. Most will say "I can't stand this place" at least once or twice a day, what gives them away is the constant need to remind us how bad the place is. Yet they still come everyday to tell us how much they dislike it.....
- Attention. Whether they did not get enough at home as a kid or they don't get enough now they will do or say anything to be the center of attention. Anything. You don't stand out being a team player and respecting others. The more outrageous and ridiculous you are the more attention you will gather. Some noteworthy examples of this sort of poster come to mind real quickly.
Solution? I don't know but if you do not like the places you spend your time I would suggest finding a place you enjoy more. Not talking here, anywhere. You can keep in touch with your friends by e-mails, letter, phone calls or whatever. You are not doing yourself or anyone else a favor by visiting places that make you miserable. Now by the same token if there are things bothering you let them know!! Nothing wrong with that. Hell no one believes in speaking up more than I do if you have an issue you want addressed. But when you catch yourself day after day having to remind us how much you hate it here than it is counterproductive to be here. Life's too short to be miserable.....
