Jim Webb would seem like the logical choice. From a southern swing state, war hero, strong military background, very bright and articulate, etc. etc. etc.
However, a lot of females in the party are still angry because they feel that Hillary had the nomination stolen from her. (Which she did, but that's beside the point.) While many have said they would vote for McCain, when push comes to shove, though, 90-95% will come around and vote for Obama.
Unless....they perceive they're being demeaned and taken for granted. And that's where Webb's numerous articles and statements critical of the role women should play in combat (which he's never recanted), and his tasteless comments about the potential for sexual harassment at the Naval Academy will come back to haunt him. And Obama, too, if he's foolish enough to pick Webb.
