Jim Webb would seem like the logical choice. From a southern swing state, war hero, strong military background, very bright and articulate, etc. etc. etc.

However, a lot of females in the party are still angry because they feel that Hillary had the nomination stolen from her. (Which she did, but that's beside the point.) While many have said they would vote for McCain, when push comes to shove, though, 90-95% will come around and vote for Obama.

Unless....they perceive they're being demeaned and taken for granted. And that's where Webb's numerous articles and statements critical of the role women should play in combat (which he's never recanted), and his tasteless comments about the potential for sexual harassment at the Naval Academy will come back to haunt him. And Obama, too, if he's foolish enough to pick Webb.

So if Webb were to be Obama's running mate, the Democratic women who favored hardcore Dem Hillary Clinton will now jump ship and support the campaign of Republican warhawk John McCain - who btw supports removing the legal rights of women to abort an unwanted fetus?

okey dokey

Not sure you fully grasp the anger and resentment that's out there.

I've worked the past ten years with the arm of the Democratic Party here in Florida that was most pro-Hillary.

Suggestions that these staunch Democratic ladies would abandon the party and vote for an anti-abortion rights warhawk like McCain are preposterous.

But if one (not saying you're in this group) is firmly anti-Obama and seeking any and all possible pluses for McCain, I can imagine such a notion might carry some spark.

Barman ... throw in this beauty from McCain:

McCain on equal pay: ‘I don’t think you’re doing anything to help the rights of women.’»

Last month, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) skipped the vote on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which would have made it easier for women and other workers to pursue pay discrimination claims. At the time, McCain explained his opposition to the bill by saying that instead of equal pay protection, women simply needed “education and training.“ Asked about his opposition to the bill at a townhall today, McCain told a 14-year old girl that he didn’t think protections for equal pay would do “anything to help the rights of women“:
McCain singled out a 14-year old woman who questioned why he opposes eliminating the statute of limitations on lawsuits over workplace discrimination, arguing it amounted to opposing “equal rights for women.”

“If you eliminate the statutes of limitations, and you make it unending, you may be violating the rights of the individuals who are being sued, whether they’re a man or a woman,” the senator responded. “I don’t think you’re doing anything to help the rights of women, except maybe help trial lawyers and others in that profession.”
McCain has a long record of failure on women’s issues, earning him a 0 percent rating from NARAL ProChoice America six years in a row, from 2001-2007.

Obama will not pick Webb, Webb's credentials dwarfs Obama. I would even vote for Webb over McCain. I believe he was a small part of the Reagan administration, he has southern roots and is sure no left wing radical like Obama!
