Why is zona -170?

I know San diego is terrible on the road but the D-dacks stink at home and Garland is no ace. I want to lay some money on Zona but does anyone else feel -170 isn't worth it?

play the runline. the padres have been in the bottom half of the league in nearly every stat in the past 5 or so games. they're also throwing some scrub off the streets in there to pitch. garland should be alright against this weak offense...

I have the line valued at -172/+172, so the market appears efficient here (which should be expected heading into the close). The DBacks are being priced somewhere inbetween current form and true potential, and there is no fundamental reason for the DBacks to be struggling more at home (thus lacking sustainability).

A better question you should be asking why you want to lay money on something you are perceiving to be -EV (or at best 0 EV).

and yes i believe there is more ev in the rl. the ml is a lot of juice, though i don't think it will be a problem - i'd rather give the padres 1.5 runs for + money

I think you are confusing "juice" (vigorous) with payout rate. The runline at most places actually accompanying more or the same juice compared to the ML.
