Why Is This Guy Even Allowed to Play?

I'm referring to Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios, who's basicaly ready to draw the old age security pension for cripes sakes. Listen he's in this league for one reason and one reason only and that's to satisfy himself and nothing more. The guy is a selfish typical U.S. born player who's doing nothing more than taking the roster position of some other young prospect who's waitng for his chance to perform. Chelios is as useless a tool on defense as there has ever been at this stage and it's showing each and every time he's sent out there to play. Take a hike you moron, retire before you ruin you club's chance to capture the championship. Wings management and Babcock, use your common sense and get rid of this guy as he's become a total hindrance to both the Wings and the NHL itself. Simply a total idiot that should be hung out to dry for his complete and total selfishness!

Now for a....better explanation as to why Chelios is on the team even at this age. The Wings have always stressed the philosophy of having at least a few aging veterans on the team, not necessarily to produce on the ice but as more of a mentoring role for the younger players to learn the essence of winning from players who've "been there before" It's something that's work over the years and continues to be a fantastic working model. Chelios of coarse plays very rarely,[ mostly to fill in for an injured Wing] who plays for the league minimum.


Ivan does have a rather "interesting" take as well but should be also taken with a grain of salt.
